The Traveler is the only character in Genshin Impact who can change their elemental alignment, and by taking on the power of Electro they become a powerful support character. If firing off Elemental Bursts at every opportunity is your favorite strategy, the game's protagonist ensures your batteries will never run dry.

Electro is a powerful element already, and in the hands of the Traveler it's a potent weapon that any player can use. Best of all, the ability to charge elemental energy is so universal that the Electro Traveler is useful on just about any team!

How To Unlock The Traveler's Electro Powers

If you're new to Genshin Impact, you'll have to play through the main story a bit before gaining access to the Traveler's Electro abilities. They are unlocked the first time you visit a Statue Of The Seven in the Inazuma region. You can freely change the Traveler's affinity simply by visiting a Statue of the element you want; Anemo in Mondstadt, Geo in Liyue, and Electro in Inazuma.

Take The Time To Gather The Electroculi

The Electro Traveler's Constellation is upgraded by offering Electroculi to Inazuma's Statues Of The Seven. While gathering all of them can be time-consuming, having a fully-upgraded Constellation makes the Traveler much more potent. Since each Electroculus is in a set location and only needs to be collected once, the Electro Traveler has one of the easiest Constellations to unlock in the game, so there's no reason not to do so.

For ease of reference, you can find the locations for the Electroculi on each of Inazuma's islands with the following guides:

Fully Charged

The Electro Traveler's powers are centered around charging up the team's Elemental Bursts, allowing you to use these powerful abilities frequently. Characters with exceptionally useful bursts, such as Xingqiu or Jean, have much to gain from having the Traveler in their party. Since Electro pairs well with all the other elements, this version of the Traveler is less restricted when it comes to building a team around them. Pick the characters whose bursts you like best!

Know Where The Amulets Are

Although the Electro Traveler is a powerful asset to their team, they need to be utilized with precision. Their skill, Lightning Blade, spawns pickups called Abundance Amulets that restore a character's Energy when touched. If you're not careful, you could accidentally give the Amulets to the wrong character - all it takes is a dodge in the wrong direction.

This isn't the end of the world, of course, but you'll fare much better if you pick up Amulets with the right character at the right time. Always have an eye on your active character's Energy; if they're almost full, save the Abundance Amulets for another character so as not to waste them.

Favor Characters Whose Bursts Remain On The Field

Try to have at least one other character on your team besides the Traveler whose Elemental Burst remains in play if the character switches out. The speed with which you can deploy these abilities can turn them into near-persistent presences on the battlefield. The Traveler's own Elemental Burst falls into this category, giving the active character Electro add-ons to their basic attacks, dealing damage and charging that character's Energy.

Always Bring A Cryo Teammate

Superconduct, the elemental reaction between Electro and Cryo, is incredibly useful for melee characters like the Traveler. It reduces the physical resistance of the affected creature by forty percent, significantly boosting the amount of damage that can be dealt to them with basic attacks. Since the Electro Traveler has an easy means of applying one half of the Superconduct reaction, it makes sense to always have a character on-hand who can provide Cryo.

The Cryo teammate can fill any party role; a melee powerhouse like Kaeya or Kamisato Ayaka is a strong choice as they can take advantage of the reaction themselves while also benefiting from Bellowing Thunder.

If your roster's primary melee DPS uses a different element, any character who can efficiently apply Cryo such as Qiqi or Aloy can still set up the reaction. The ideal strategy is to inflict Cryo on your enemies, then have the Traveler use their Elemental Burst before switching to your chosen melee DPS. The lightning strikes from Bellowing Thunder will inflict Superconduct as the melee character attacks, saving you steps.

Yes, There Is Such A Thing As Too Much Electro

While they might not hit as hard as some five-star Electro characters, the Traveler provides all the purple power that your team needs. Having a second Electro character for the resonance bonus doesn't add as much to the Traveler's team as it might in other builds. It's far better to pick another element to double up - Pyro, Hydro, and Cryo are all very good choices depending on which characters you have available.
