The mysterious Albedo, also known as the 'Kreideprinz,' is the Knights of Favonius Investigation Team's Chief Alchemist and Captain. He has an insatiable desire to learn everything there is to know about Teyvat, and he examines everything he sees with great care. He is a sword user and deals massive Geo AoE damage.Albedo is one of the strongest Geo characters in Genshin Impact, and he just might beat the Geo Archon for the number one spot. His primary role is as the Sub-DPS of your team. He has the lowest Elemental Skill cooldown which makes pricing Geo damage very easy. If you have managed to pull him through the rerun banners you should definitely consider properly building him and using him in your party. Here's how best to utilize his skills.
He Loves Defense Artifacts
All the grinding and getting an artifact with defense as the main stat is a little disheartening. But just like Noelle, Albedo’s talents are scaled based on his defense stat meaning they are no longer useless.
When you use his Elemental Skill, Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma, it generates transient blossoms. These transient blossoms deal AoE Geo damage based on his defense stat. Since he has a low cooldown on his Elemental Skill, this damage is persistent. So if you're just getting started, just equip some defense artifacts till you can farm for the perfect set.
He Can Use A Three-Star Weapon
With the Genshin Impact gacha system, getting a decent weapon is based on pure luck or resorting to craftable weapons. But Albedo breaks this trend by being the perfect user for the three-star weapon Harbinger of Dawn.
The skill effect for this weapon is, ‘when the wielder’s HP is above 90 percent, it will increase the Crit Rate by 14 percent.’ Since Albedo will have such a high defense stat, he won’t take damage easily. And the benefit of using a three-star weapon is that you can easily refine it for maximum bonus.
Use The Albedo Elevator
While Albedo’s Flower deals continuous Geo damage, it can also be used as an elevator. This can be used during a fight and during open-world exploration. When you use his Elemental Skill, you can stand on top of it, and you will rise along with it.
This can be used during a fight for Plunging Attacks (Xiao mains) and if you want to reach rooftops or collect the Oculi scattered around Tevyat.
The Best Artifacts For Albedo
Albedo has his own special artifact set custom-made for him. It was released during the 2.3 update along with a specific five-star sword. Husk of Opulent Dreams is the only artifact set that has defense percent as the two-piece bonus. The four-piece set further boosts his defense and Geo damage by six percent.
But if you want some additional Geo damage, you can opt for the two-piece Archaic Petra set for a 15 percent Geo damage bonus. The two-piece Noblesse Oblige is another option if you want to boost your Elemental Burst damage by 20 percent. You'll also likely have some of these with defence stats on in your inventory.
Albedo's Talent Priority
With limited resources, you should prioritize Albedo's Elemental Skill (Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma) and level it up first. It has the lowest cooldown of four seconds and does consistent Geo damage. It is also considered a Geo construct and resonates with other Geo constructs like Zhongli’s Pillar and Ningguang’s shield.
After that, you can focus on leveling up his Elemental Burst, Rite Of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide. His Elemental Burst does AoE Geo damage to the enemies in front of him. If you have his Solar Isotoma on the field, it will also boost Elemental Burst damage. So you should use his Elemental Skill before using his Elemental Burst.
Watch For His Elemental Mastery Boost
Unlocked at Ascension 4, his passive talent Homuncular Nature will boost the Elemental Mastery of your entire party by 125 for ten seconds. This Elemental Mastery buff is incredible for creating elemental reactions and causing additional damage.
Since Vaporize reaction deals the most damage, you can use him in a party with Pyro and Hydro characters. You can also use this to set up your Elemental Burst rotations based on your party.
Albedo's Constellations
Albedo has an excellent C2 that you can aim for. At constellation two he will be granted a ‘Fatal Reckoning’ for 30 seconds using the Transient Blossoms generated by Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma.
He will be granted four stacks of Fatal Reckoning and each stack will increase his damage by 30 percent based on his overall defense stat. This is an incredible boost and is absolutely worth the investment.
He Has A Special Five-star Weapon
Just like all the other five-star characters, Albedo has his own special five-star weapon. The Cinnabar Spindle was released in the 2.3 update along with his special artifact set. Since it is specifically designed for Albedo, its bonus effect grants a defense boost.
Along with that, the skill effect buffs his Elemental Skill by 40 percent based on his overall defense stat. Every 1.5 seconds, this effect will be triggered, causing increased damage.
Level Him Up To 90
While most veteran Genshin Impact players know that it is enough to ascend a character at level 80 and upgrade them at your leisure, Albedo breaks this trend. Since his damage scaling is so different from other characters, the defense stat needs to be maxed out for best damage output.
Unlike other attack scaling units, who get close to 75 percent of their base attack from their weapon, Albedo scales primarily off his defense and is hence considerably more reliant on his base stats. Albedo's total damage increases by about 16 percent when he reaches level 90. As a result, upgrading Albedo to level 90 is highly recommended.
Best Teammates for Albedo
When building a team around Albedo, you should consider the Elemental Resonance and the Elemental Reactions of your party. You can use Albedo as a Sub-DPS in most situations, but he shines if you have a Main-DPS Ningguang build. Other slots can be filled with a healer and support character based on the enemies.
You can also use Zhongli for support if your Main-DPS relies on Elemental Reactions. Zhongli’s Pillar and Albedo’s Flower create Geo Resonance and deal more damage. The ideal team in this situation will be Hu Tao as the Main-DPS and Xingqiu for support.
