The right team combination in Genshin Impact makes all the difference when fighting through a domain. It doesn’t matter how strong your Electro-users are if you’re fighting against a Cyro enemy and need Pyros to counteract. Likewise, you may find yourself needing Hydro-users in a battle, but have built a team of all Pyros, making a win an uphill struggle.
The biggest factor in determining who makes the cut and who doesn’t is going to be deciding who you want to build your team around, and then working from there. A team can only work if all units move together to strengthen one another, luckily Zhongli is a versatile Geo-user to build around.
10/10 Kazuha
Zhongli works well with Kazuha in two different team builds: in a Vaporize team or a Permafrost team. In both settings, Kazuha will be able to group enemies together, making it much easier to attack effectively, and Zhongli will be running as support, keeping shields up for allies.
Together, these two will allow your team to inflict maximum damage without incurring a ton in return, so regardless of which build you’re using, you’ll want to keep Kazuhaa in mind for your supporting team.
9/10 Diluc
If you’re wanting a team where you have time to fight instead of feeling rushed to win, Diluc as your main DPS and Zhongli as a support member will work wonders.
Diluc offers decent damage, especially if you’ve equipped him with the Serpent Spine weapon. Who else you add to this team will change how quickly you can win, but ultimately having Zhongli around for his shield abilities will buy you the time you need.
8/10 Noelle
Both Geo-users who require high Energy Recharge, these two don’t make sense together at first glance. But if you’re looking to make Zhongli your main DPS - and it can be done with the correct weapon and artifacts equipped - Noelle is the best healer in the entire game to support Zhongli in the lead.
The remaining two slots in your team are debatable, but you’ll need to make sure they offer Energy Recharge and maybe a boost to your team’s defense.
7/10 Mona
If you’re building a Permafrost team around Zhongli, Mona is the best Hydro-user to place with him. Her Elemental Burst will give a boost to the damage for the team, and she can attach her Hydro abilities to enemies, so you can freeze them with ease.
Zhongli will increase the attack stats for the team, as well as act as the shield across the characters. With this composition, you need at least one of your other members to be a Cyro-user, obviously, but a Zhongli Permafrost team with Mona and Kazuha is definitely a top option.
6/10 Childe
Childe is a strong character on his own, so he’ll take the lead in this team as the main DPS. Zhongli will still be useful as your support member due to his shield, but he also offers defense if you lack viable options for solid defense in your remaining two slots.
Since Childe is capable of large amounts of damage all on his own, pairing him with Zhongli really comes down to an extra layer of protection for a fast battle, instead of helping with winning the battle.
5/10 Ganyu
If you’re looking to round out your Permafrost team of Zhongli, Mona, and Kazuha, look no further than Ganyu. She has solid Elemental Burst damage and can help in freezing the enemies for a quicker win.
If you’re looking to build a Melt team with Zhongli instead, Ganyu is helpful there, too, because of her strong Charged Attack damage and ability to use Cryo to trigger the melting phase of the team plan.
4/10 Qiqi
Once again, you’ll be using Zhongli as your shield support for the entire team. Qiqi will be another support member in this combination, as she is arguably the best healer in Genshin Impact, even over Noelle.
Qiqi can also attach Cryo to the enemy which can be helpful on a Permafrost team, Melt team, or a Superconduct team, depending on the other team members you select. As an added benefit, she can unlock Geo resonance with Zhongli when teamed together.
3/10 Ningguang
Not all characters have strong talents for teaming up with others, but the passive talents will apply if you know what to look for. Ningguang’s passive talents will highlight and increase Zhongli’s Geo damage in battle.
They, too, create a Geo resonance, as well, overall making them a solid pairing with Zhongli either as the main DPS or as a support DPS in your setup. An effective four-team arrangement is Zhongli, Ningguang, Qiqi, and Diluc if you go this route.
2/10 Bennett
Zhongli and Bennett share universality in teams, as many players slot Bennett with just about any other character combinations possible.
Bennett offers heavy damage boosts, some healing capabilities, and is a solid pick for sub DPS when using Zhongli as team support. You’ll use Zhongli’s shielding to protect Bennett as he runs the battlefield.
1/10 Albedo
This pairing will work best with Albedo as your main DPS and Zhongli as your sub DPS. Both will produce Geo particles that allow their Bursts to be very powerful, and Zhongli as a shield, while Albedo is on the battlefield, will give you a much larger area of effect for damage.
As you use their Burst Attack, you can alternate between the two to give them an equal chance to cool down while the other is out in the fight.
