As Genshin Impact's story keeps expanding and we're introduced to the island region of Inazuma, Mihoyo continues to add new characters while bringing back old favourites. One such old favourite is Childe, also known as Tartaglia. This Snezhnayan legend has gotten three limited run banners so far (perhaps making him not so limited after all), taunting both players who are trying to summon for him, and those who have had just about enough of him.

Childe is a Hydro bow user with a twist: his Elemental Skill summons a Hydro dagger that lets him become a speedy melee DPS for a short period of time. Childe is especially fun to play, and his Hydro element allows for a lot of different elemental reactions and team compositions. If you've managed to snag him during one of his many reruns, here are some suggestions for the best characters to use with Childe.

7/7 Fischl

Though she's a four-star character, Fischl is one of the best characters in the game. An electro archer Sub-DPS, Fischl's Elemental Skill summons her trusty raven, Oz, who will keep attacking enemies on the field with Electro even when you switch her out with someone else. This lets you set up powerful elemental reactions and increase your overall damage output, making Fischl a good team member for most compositions, including one centred around Childe.

Fischl's Elemental Skill has a fast cooldown, refreshing in about a second, meaning you can repeatedly use it with Childe's attacks to create Electro-charged reactions with mobs of enemies.

6/7 Beidou

Beidou is a heavy hitting Electro claymore user. For her Elemental Skill, she has a built in counter move that absorbs damage and unleashes it back on her enemies.

Beidou's Elemental Burst in particular complements Childe very well. After using Childe's Elemental burst to spread Hydro through his melee capabilities, you can switch over to Beidou. Her Elemental Burst will then let you spread Electro to enemies that Childe has already spread Hydro to, creating massive mobs of Electro-Charged enemies and dealing a ton of damage. This is especially great because Beidou is a tanky character and can take most of the damage thrown at her. You can also spread Hydro using Childe and then switch to Beidou, using her Elemental Skill to counter enemies with Electro.

5/7 Bennett

Bennett is a great, well-rounded four-star character. He's a solid Sub-DPS, and his Elemental Skill has a short cooldown time, meaning you can use it to apply Pyro continuously. Using this with Childe's Elemental Skill means you can make quick work of triggering Overloaded reactions.

Bennett's Elemental Burst can also provide healing up to 70% of your active character's HP, provided they stay in the area of healing. Building Bennett's constellation allows you to bypass that HP limitation as early as C1, and since he's a four-star character, it's not too hard to do so. Plus, if you can get a total of two Pyro characters in the party, you can use Elemental Resonance to boost the attack of your party by 25%. This can be great for Childe and any other DPS or Sub-DPS character you might have on hand.

4/7 Xingqiu

Easily one of the best characters in the game, despite being a four-star character, Xingqiu's value comes from his versatility and capabilities, making him useful in almost any team. The same is true for a team with Childe. Xingqiu's Elemental Skill provides multiple benefits, including some healing and resistance to incoming damage. Xingqiu is easy to build, since you can summon him on a regular banner or any banner where he might be featured, since his constellations make him a great deal more powerful.

When using his Elemental Burst, Xingqiu's Raincutter swords increase damage, especially when combined Childe's Elemental Skill. If you have Xingqiu's constellations up to a least C2, you can also decrease the Hydro resistance of enemies.

3/7 Xiangling

If you're looking for a fast-attacking Sub-DPS on your team, Xiangling might be a good choice. Using Pyro and a polearm, Xiangling is a four-star character who can deal a lot of damage very quickly. Her Pyro abilities can work in tandem with Childe's Hydro skills to create the Vaporize reaction.

Both Xiangling's Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst are powerful and explosive Pyro abilities. Using her Burst, which creates a decoy, can work very well with Childe as it explodes and paves the way for Vaporize, either through Childe's normal attacks or his melee skill.

2/7 Barbara

Barbara is a great healer for most teams, and if you have her, she's a good choice for your Childe team too. Since she's both free and a four-star character, you can build her constellations with ease, amplifying her support capabilities.

What makes Barbara a fantastic healer is her Elemental Skill and Burst. Using her Elemental Skill, you can heal characters while Barbara attacks enemies, or you can switch her out with another character to heal them and apply Hydro to enemies near them. Using the Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers tome with Barbara lets you give an attack boost to whichever character you swap her out with, for a few precious seconds. This helps maximize Childe's damage output.

1/7 Sucrose

If you're planning on taking on mobs of enemies in Genshin Impact, which happens often in Spiral Abyss or other challenges, then Sucrose is an excellent character to keep handy.

Since a lot of team members for Childe are based around their abilities to deal with mobs, Sucrose helps support that purpose. Her Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst create a vortex and pull enemies in towards it while amplifying elemental damage. Gathering all your enemies in one place helps make quick work of them, especially when using Childe's Elemental Skill.
