Hu Tao is a rare playable character in Genshin Impact. She’s the local funeral director, and is of a medium build, making her a stout opponent in battle. A Pyro-user who favors Polearms when fighting, her Normal Attack alone is repetitive up to six times rapidly.

Her stats only go up from there, so if you’re lucky enough to snag her in the Moment of Bloom Event, you’ll want to equip her with the best possible options. Fortunately, and unlike many other playable characters, Hu Tao has a wide range of acceptable weapons, making her affordable and easy to build up as you level her up. Here are the best weapons for Hu Tao.

13/13 The Halberd – Three Star

The Halberd is a typical weapon recommended for most of the Polearm wielders in Genshin, mainly because it’s so easily acquired. You can find it throughout the map in chests of all qualities, so you probably already have one or two in your inventory when you get Hu Tao.

Her Normal Attack will get a 160 percent damage boost every ten seconds when equipped, and her Base Attack will get a 40 to 448 increase depending on her level. The secondary stat with the Halberd is also Attack, adding another five to 23.4 percent, again based on character level.

12/13 The White Tassel – Three Star

Another weapon you most likely already have handy from opening chests, the White Tassel gives Hu Tao a 24 percent boost to her Normal Attack damage. This is on top of the five to 23.4 percent increase to her Crit Rate secondary stat, similar to the Halberd.

Hu Tao’s Base Attack will get a 39 to 401 bump based on her level in the game, as well, which is comparable to the Halberd.

11/13 The Black Tassel – Three Star

The Black Tassel is fairly easy to obtain through Wishes, or if you talk to Orban during missions, you’ll gain it as well. Hu Tao’s Base Attack increases between 38 and 354, based on her level, and her damage will get boosted an extra 40 percent against any Slimes.

The secondary stat with the Black Tassel is HP-based, giving her 10.2 to 46.9 percent health in battle. This is particularly helpful if you’re using her as your main DPS, or if you lack a strong healer on your team.

10/13 The Blackcliff Pole - Four Star

To get the Blackcliff Pole for Hu Tao, you'll need to go to Paimon's Bargains and exchange it for 24 Masterless Starglitter. Once you equip her with it, you'll see a boost to her Base Attack (depending on what level you've trained her to) between 42 and 510. The substat is Crit Damage, which gives her an extra 12 to 55.1 percent.

After defeating a target, Hu Tao's Attack will go up another 12 percent for 30 seconds. This can be stacked three times, with each stack having an independent duration from the rest, allowing you to continuously stack more as others wear off.

9/13 The Catch - Four Star

The Catch is sold by Kujirai Momiji, a fisherman in Inazuma. The Base Attack boost with the Catch runs from 42 to 510 depending on Hu Tao's level, and it has a secondary stat of Energy Recharge, giving her a 10 to 45.9 percent increase.

This weapon also increases Hu Tao's Elemental Burst damage by 16 percent, along with the Crit Rate stat to her Burst by six percent, effectively making her Elemental Burst a very valuable move.

8/13 The Deathmatch – Four Star

The Deathmatch is slightly harder to get since it’s only available through the Battle Pass, but if you get it, it’s a strong four-star Polearm option for Hu Tao. The Base Attack boost, depending on her level, will go between 41 and 454, and the secondary stat increase is between eight and 36.8 percent on her Crit Rate.

In a fight, as long as there are at least two opponents nearby, Hu Tao will get an extra Attack bonus of 16 percent, and her defense will also increase by 16 percent. If there are less than two, the Attack bonus is 24 percent.

7/13 The Favonius Lance – Four Star

You’ll obtain the Favonius Lance through Wishes at a regular rate, so it’s an easier pull for a four-star weapon. When you equip Hu Tao with it, she’ll get a Base Attack from 44 to 565 based on her level in-game. She’ll also get a six to 30.6 percent boost to her Energy Recharge which is beneficial for a main DPS Hu Tao.

Her Crit hits will have a 60 percent chance of producing Elemental Particles, and those will generate six Energy for her every 12 seconds. You’ll want the Favonius Lance for Hu Tao if you plan to keep her on the battlefield consistently.

6/13 The Crescent Pike – Four Star

Some weapons are forgeable, and the Crescent Pike is one of them, making it a matter of collecting the required material to obtain it. Whenever you pick up an Elemental Orb or Particle, Hu Tao’s Normal and Charged Attacks will deal an extra 20 percent damage for five seconds. Since Her Normal and Charged Attacks are already strong, this will make them incredibly powerful.

As for her Base Attack, it will get a boost ranging between 44 and 565, and the secondary stat is Physical Damage with a bonus of 7.5 to 34.5 percent depending on her level.

5/13 The Prototype Starglitter – Four Star

Another Polearm you will forge yourself for Hu Tao, it also boosts her Normal and Charged Attacks. After she’s used her Elemental Skill, the Normal and Charged Attack will get a bonus of eight percent Attack Damage for 12 seconds, and this can be stacked twice.

This is paired with the Base Attack boost between 42 and 510, and the secondary stat increase to her Energy Recharge ranging from ten to 45.9 percent. All of this together will make her a super-powered DPS.

4/13 The Dragon’s Bane – Four Star

You can get the Dragon’s Bane through Wishes, though not as frequently as the three-star Wish weapons. If you get it, you’ll see a Base Attack bonus between 41 and 454 for Hu Tao, and increased damage against enemies that are affected by either Hydro or Pyro (which is especially handy for this Pyro-user).

The secondary stat on the Dragon’s Bane is Elemental Mastery, which will get a boost between 48 and 221 depending on what level you have your Hu Tao.

3/13 The Skyward Spine - Five Star

Obtained through Wishes, the Skyward Spine elevates Hu Tao's Base Attack between 48 and 674, with the exact number based on her level. The secondary stat with this weapon is Energy Recharge, giving her between an eight and 36.8 percent boost to her Energy.

The Skyward Spine will increase her Crit Rate by eight percent, and give a 12 percent bonus to her Normal Attack speed. On top of this, her Normal and Charged Attack will have a 50 percent chance to start a Vacuum Blade that will dole out an extra 40 percent of Attack as damage in a small AoE.

2/13 The Primordial Jade Winged-Spear – Five Star

You’ll have to pull the Primordial Jade Winged-Spear through Wishes, as it’s not available any other way. Base Attack will bump up from 48 to 674, and the secondary stat is four to 22.1 percent on her Crit Rate.

Upon a hit from Hu Tao with this Polearm, her Attack increases by three percent for six seconds. You’ll be able to stack this up to seven times, and when you have it fully stacked, you’ll get an extra 12 percent Damage boost.

1/13 The Staff of Homa – Five Star

The hardest Polearm to obtain for Hu Tao, you’ll only be able to pull it from the Weapon Event Wishes. Fully worth the trouble though, as it boosts her Base Attack between 46 and 608 depending on her level, and it increases Crit Damage between 14.4 and 66.2 percent.

On top of making her an even tougher opponent in battle, it provides a 20 percent increase to her HP and an Attack bonus that’s 0.8 percent of her max HP.
