While it can’t really be classed as a sandbox MMO, there are lots of ways you can spend your time while playing Lost Ark. Many players love to hunt out the collectible items, while others love to group up for the end-game dungeons or battle it out in PvP battles. But many prefer the solo path, working their way through the storyline at their own pace and taking on the dungeons on each continent solo.

It's possible to play through Lost Ark’s storyline as any of the character classes, as essentially they’re all ‘tank’ classes. While a few do have support roles built in, even they can be taken through the game’s main content alone. But not all classes are built equally well for solo play. So, which are the best solo classes in Lost Ark?

Berserker (Warrior)

Berserkers deal great damage with their swords and a lot of their attacks do stagger damage, which prevents your foes from fighting back.

They’re not the most maneuverable, but are at least faster than Paladins and Gunlancers while having a bit of crowd control thrown in. When they do get hit though, it’s not a huge issue as they have plenty of health. This means that overall they’re simple to play and succeed with, making Berserkers particularly good for beginners or casual players.

Paladin (Warrior)

Paladins also deal great damage, like the Berserker, but they use strong shields to prevent taking damage rather than being a basic tank class.

Paladin is basically a support class, as he also has buffs to cast, meaning they’re highly sought after in groups. But it also means they can still take a lot of hits when playing solo, even if they’re a bit trickier to play. This actually makes them a lot of fun to play for those looking for more of a complex challenge from their warrior.

Gunslinger (Gunner)

The Gunslinger is one of the best long-range solo classes because they’re also fast on their feet, as well as being the best female character for solo play. They have a large range of abilities thanks to attacking with three different weapons: the sniper rifle, shotgun, and dual pistols.

The Gunslinger can pick her targets as a sniper at long range, do big damage with the shotgun as they close, then move quickly out of range with pistols equipped. Switching between the three weapon ability types makes her a harder character to master than some, but the payoff can be spectacular.

Striker (Martial Artist)

If you want to fight up close and personal, but also want mobility alongside massive DPS potential, you should consider the Striker. They’re a PvP favourite as their speed makes them great at getting to support characters as well as kiting away from danger.

While in solo PvE, these abilities are augmented with huge damage potential thanks to long attack chains that build up to massive effect. If you instead have your heart set on playing an Assassin class, or a fast and simple female melee character, consider the Deathblade.

Sorceress (Mage)

If you’re looking for a simpler ranged class that still deals big damage, and has a female avatar, look no further than the Sorceress. She’s a really strong DPS that also has some strong crowd control abilities. Which you need, as keeping your enemies at arm’s length is key to your success.

These need a bit more skill to use but are less necessary when playing solo. If you want an even simpler male ranged class, also consider the Artillerist (gunner).
