Final Fantasy 14 offers a wide-open world for you to explore and it can get pretty tiresome traipsing around on foot. Fortunately, at level 20 you get your very own Chocobo mount to speed things up, and with the addition of the Heavensward expansion, flying mounts were also added to the game so you can get around even more efficiently.

All mounts have the same base speed apart from the SDS Fenrir that can only be purchased with real money from the Optional Items Store. However, you can make your mounts run even faster with the help of Riding Maps.

Note: Increased mount speed does not affect flying mount speed.

How To Check Your Current Mount Speed

You can check your current mount speed in any area with the "/mountspeed" command or via the 'Travel' menu at the bottom of the screen and selecting 'Mount Speed'.

A Realm Reborn areas have two stars; the first star is unlocked upon the completion of specific main scenario quests covering A Realm Reborn through to Stormblood content, the second star for each area is obtained by purchasing the relevant Riding Map.

Expansion areas have one star each, some of which are obtained by completing quests, while others are unlocked by purchasing the relevant Riding Map.
