"The Feast of Famine" questline is known to be one of the most tedious quests of Final Fantasy 14, often taking days to complete. The basic plot is to catch living legends, some of the rarest fish out there, and present them to Wawalago in Limsa Lominsa.

To begin, there are two requirements. First, you must be a level 50 fisher. Next, you must complete the quest "The Beast of Brewer's Beacon" from Sisipu in the Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks after becoming a level 50 fisher. Once that is done, "The Feast of Famine" can be picked up from Wawalago at Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:8.1, Y:15.3).

The first quest objective is to capture living legends fished in La Noscea, the Black Shroud, and Thanalan. Good luck, as these fish have a ton of requirements involved in terms of the time of day, weather, and mooching.

The First Batch Of Living Legends

Before catching these fish, make sure you have good level 50 fisher gear. The higher it makes your perception, the better. In fact, it is highly recommended to eat food to get a stat boost while fishing for these legends. Lastly, make sure your gathering points are at 397 or higher.

Note: These fish do not need to be caught in a particular order.

Thanalan Living Legend: Helicoprion

  • Location: Southern Thanalan, the Sagoili Desert
  • In-Game Time The Fish Can Be Caught: 8 am - 8 pm (However, the best time is rumored to be from 8 am - 4 pm.)
  • Weather Needed: The weather must transition from Fog to Heatwave.
  • Bait: Use a Sand Leech until you catch a Storm Rider and mooch it to catch the Helicoprion.

La Noscea Living Legend: Endoceras

  • Location: Western La Noscea, Isles of Umbra Southerlore
  • In-Game Time The Fish Can Be Caught: 8 pm - 4 am
  • Weather Needed: Must transition from Clear to Fair to Overcast, Wind, or Fog.
  • Bait: Use a Spoon Worm to catch a Fullmoon Sardine and use that to mooch to get the Endoceras.

Black Shroud Living Legend: Namitaro

  • Location: South Shroud, Eruth's Gift
  • In-Game Time The Fish Can Be Caught: Any time
  • Weather Needed: During Thunder or Thunderstorm.
  • Bait: Use a Topwater Frog with Fisher's Intuition active.

Second Batch Of Living Legends

With the first batch caught, you can turn them in to Wawalago. However, your fishing journey is not yet done. There are still two living legends to catch!

Coerthas Living Legend: Shonisaurus

  • Location: Coerthas Central Highlands, Witchdrop
  • In-Game Time The Fish Can Be Caught: Anytime
  • Weather Needed: Must transition from Clear or Fair into Blizzard.
  • Bait: Use a Hoverworm to catch a Cloud Cutter. Mooch the Cloud Cutter to catch Mahar. Mooch the Mahar to catch the Shonisaurus.

Mor Dhona Living Legend: Kuno The Killer

  • Location: Mor Dhona, The North Shards
  • In-Game Time The Fish Can Be Caught: 9 am - 12 am
  • Weather Needed: Gloom
  • Bait: Use a Honey Worm to catch a Silverfish. Mooch the Silverfish to catch an Assassin Betta. Mooch the Assassin Betta while Fisher's Intuition is on.

The Final Legend: Nepto Dragon

After turning in the next legends to Wawalago, there is still more to be done. Next, you will need to speak with the steersman at Costa del Sol. You'll then need to catch your final legend: the Nepto Dragon. Your line may break many times before a successful capture. Your minimum gathering stat should be 409.

  • Location: Eastern La Noscea, Rhotano Sea (talk to the Ferry Skipper near Gegeruju in Costa Del Sol to get there).
  • In-Game Time The Fish Can Be Caught: Anytime
  • Weather Needed: Rain or Shower.
  • Bait: Use Fisher's Intuition and use a Northern Krill.

With the Nepto Dragon Caught, the quest will be complete!
