The Aurum Vale is a level 47 optional dungeon in Final Fantasy 14. In the Aurum Vale, you will hone your adventuring skills in a place where fortune seekers have all met an unfortunate end to the noxious fumes and toxic oozes that line the landscape of this cavern. Few have ever returned from the Aurum Vale, but perhaps you will fare better.

Dungeon Walkthrough

When you first enter the Aurum Vale, you will be in a large room with several groups of enemies. Head around the left side of the room to avoid a few of these groups, and watch out for the toad enemies that use Sticky Tounge and Labored Leap to pull and push you around.

Throughout the dungeon, puddles of yellow liquid will be on the ground. Standing in these puddles will inflict the Goldbile debuff, dealing damage over time. Watch your positioning and avoid standing in the yellow Goldbile puddles.

Later in the dungeon, you will enter a room with a large Goldvine Morbol that will cast Bad Breath, inflicting several dangerous debuffs in a wide cone to its front. Avoid this AoE at all costs, as these debuffs can be lethal. If you are hit by Bad Breath, the Healer can cleanse most of them with Esuna.

Additionally, in the Goldvine Morbol's room, several Morbol Fruits will begin casting Germinate when you approach them. If Germinate finishes casting, the Fruits will turn into Seedlings and attack you. Destroy the Morbol Fruits before they finish Germinating to avoid summoning more enemies.

Locksmith

The first boss of the Aurum Vale is the Locksmith. This boss will use the following attacks and mechanics throughout the fight.

  • Gold Lung: Throughout the fight, the Locksmith will apply this debuff to all players, dealing damage over time. Gold Lung can't be cleansed using Esuna. Instead, you must eat the Morbol Fruit scattered around the arena to remove it. Only eat the Fruit when you have two stacks of the Gold Lung debuff, as they don't regrow fast enough to eat them more frequently. Additionally, ranged players should stand near the Morbol Fruit they intend to eat, allowing them to eat it faster.
  • Hundred Lashings: The Locksmith will deal high damage to the Tank. Use defensive cooldowns to mitigate this damage.
  • Gold Rush: The Locksmith will damage and apply Gold Lung to all players. Remember to only eat the Morbol Fruit when you have two stacks of this debuff.
  • Gold Dust: The Locksmith will target a player with a large AoE circle. Move out of the AoE indicator to avoid taking damage.

The Locksmith will repeat these attacks until it is defeated. The Healer may have a harder time keeping the party's health up during this fight, so be sure to eat the Morbol Fruit every time you reach two stacks of Gold Lung.

Coincounter

The second boss of the Aurum Vale is the Coincounter. This boss has several attacks with similar names, which can be difficult to tell apart. When fighting the Coincounter, rather than focusing on the names of the attacks, simply watch the AoE indicators that are present with each attack.

  • 10-tonze Swipe: The Coincounter will deal damage in a cone to its front. The Tank should face the boss away from the rest of the party to avoid hitting them with this attack.
  • 100-tonze Swipe: The Coincounter will attack in a cone AoE, damaging and knocking back hit players. Move out of the AoE indicator to avoid getting hit.
  • 100-tonze Swing: This attack deals high damage and knocks back in a point-blank AoE around the boss. Quickly move outside the AoE indicator to avoid 100-tonze Swing.
  • Glower: The Coincounter will turn toward a random player and attack in a long line AoE that deals damage and inflicts Paralysis. Move out of the AoE indicator to avoid this attack.
  • Eye of the Beholder: The boss will attack in a large 270 degree ring AoE, with safe spots behind the boss and immediately around it. This attack also inflicts the Electrocution debuff, dealing damage over time. To avoid Eye of the Beholder, move behind or near the boss.

The Coincounter will repeat these attacks until it is defeated. Watch the AoE indicators of each attack to avoid them.

Miser's Mistress

The final boss of the Aurum Vale is the Miser's Mistress. Similar to the Locksmith, the Miser's Mistress will inflict a debuff that can be cleansed by eating Morbol Fruit. This time, you should eat the Morbol Fruit when you have three stacks of Burrs. The rest of the Miser's Mistresses attacks are detailed below.

  • Vine Probe: The Miser's Mistress will deal damage in an area around its main target. The Tank should stay away from the rest of the party to avoid hitting them with Vine Probe.
  • Bad Breath: Similar to the Goldvine Morbols from earlier in the dungeon, the Miser's Mistress will deal damage and inflict several debuffs in a wide cone to its front. Quickly move outside Bad Breath's AoE indicator to avoid this attack.
  • Burr Burrow: The Miser's Mistress will inflict the Burrs debuff on all players, which deals moderate damage over time. Similar to the Locksmith's Gold Lung, the Burrs debuff can only be cleansed by eating a Morbol Fruit. This time, eat the Morbol Fruit when you have three stacks of Burrs. Like before, ranged players should stand near a Morbol Fruit for easy access.
  • Hooked Burrs: The boss will target a random player, dealing damage to them and inflicting a stack of Burrs.
  • Sow: The Miser's Mistress will move to a part of the arena and create five Morbol Fruits in the area. These will begin to cast Germinate, and will grow into full Morbol Seedlings when the cast is complete. If the Fruits are allowed to grow, the Seedlings will attack players and inflict Burrs with each attack.
    • To prevent this, quickly destroy the Morbol Fruits when the boss spawns them.

The Miser's Mistress will repeat these attacks until it is defeated. Be sure to eat the Morbol Fruits around the arena when you have three stacks of Burrs, and destroy the spawned Germinating Morbol Fruits as quickly as possible, as the summoned Morbol Seedlings can quickly overwhelm your party with Burrs.
