Your objective is to clear out the Amdapor Keep of the Cultists and prevent them from terrorizing the South Shroud. Let's take a look at each boss you'll fight in this dungeon, their attacks and mechanics, and how to beat them.

How To Unlock Amdapor Keep

This optional dungeon is unlocked through the following side quest.

  • Accept the quest 'Ghosts of Amdapor'
    • NPC Location: Nedrick Ironheart - Western Thanalan (X:12.0, Y:14.3)

This quest can be accepted after reaching level 50, clearing the dungeon The Aurum Vale, and completing the level 50 Main Scenario Quest 'The Ultimate Weapon'.

Dungeon Walkthrough

In the first section of Amdapor Keep, you will encounter several Lunatic Followers that attempt to cast Void Call. If successful, Void Call will summon an additional enemy to the fight. Defeat the Lunatic Followers casting Void Call to avoid fighting additional enemies.

Throughout the dungeon, you will face large Dullahan enemies that use a high damage frontal cone AoE attack. The Tank should face these enemies away from the rest of the party to avoid hitting them with this attack.

Lunatic Priest And Psycheflayer

The first bosses of Amdapor Keep are the Lunatic Priest and the Psycheflayer. You will start the fight by facing the Priest until he reaches 50 percent health. At this point, the Priest will summon the Psycheflayer.

  • Void Fire II: The Lunatic Priest will cast this attack, dealing damage in a large circular AoE. Stun the boss or move outside the AoE indicator to avoid this attack.

When the Lunatic Priest reaches 50 percent health, he will cast Void Call to summon the real boss, the Psycheflayer, who will use the following attacks and mechanics.

  • Void Thunder III: The Psycheflayer will deal high damage to the Tank. Use defensive cooldowns to mitigate this damage as necessary.
  • Canker: The Psycheflayer will target a random player with this attack, inflicting the Disease debuff, which reduces movement speed and health recovery through healing abilities. This debuff can be cleansed with Esuna.
  • Mind Melt: The Psycheflayer will deal damage to all party members. The Healer should restore the party's health with AoE healing.
  • Marionette Golems: Throughout the fight, the Psycheflayer will target a pile of rubble and summon a Marionette. The Stone and Marble Marionettes will join the battle, and should be focused on first. At around 50 percent health, the Psycheflayer will summon a massive Megalith Marionette.
    • Stone Marionette: Uses Rockslide, dealing damage in a line AoE to its front. Move outside the AoE indicator to avoid this attack.
    • Marble Marionette: Casts Obliterate, dealing damage to all party members. Recover with AoE healing.
    • Megalith Marionette: This Marionette will spawn at the back of the arena and slowly move back and forth from the front to back, periodically casting Plaincracker. This attack deals high damage in a large circular AoE. The Megalith Marionette has extremely high health and damage reduction, making killing it nearly impossible. Instead, dodge the large Plaincracker AoEs while focusing on the Psycheflayer.

The Psycheflayer will repeat these attacks until it is defeated. Destroy the Stone and Marble Marionettes when they spawn, and avoid the large Plaincracker AoEs. If your group has high enough damage, you may only have to dodge the first Plaincracker AoE.

Demon Wall

The second boss of Amdapor Keep is the Demon Wall. On either side of the narrow arena are two large pits that will instantly kill you if you fall into them. Avoid moving near the edges of the arena as you deal with the Demon Walls attacks and mechanics.

  • Liquefy: This attack is a series of three line AoEs. First, the Demon Wall will target the middle column of the arena, dealing damage and inflicting Slow. Then, the sides of the arena will be targeted, dealing damage and inflicting Heavy. Slow will increase the delay on attacking, and Heavy will reduce your movement speed, making it harder to dodge further AoEs.
    • To avoid the Liquefy combo, stand near the edge of the center AoE, then quickly move into the center when the outer AoEs appear.
  • Repel: After the Demon Wall has used the Liquefy combo twice, it will cast Repel, knocking all players back. Stand in the middle of the arena and stop moving to avoid being knocked off the sides of the arena. After the Demon Wall casts Repel, it will move closer to the entrance of the arena, limiting the moveable area of the arena.
    • After the Demon Wall has used Repel at least twice, it will cover the front section of the arena in a Void Pitch, which is a persistent AoE that deals damage over time. This will reduce the safe area of the arena even further, as you will want to avoid standing in the Void Pitch to reduce damage taken.
  • Bloodlappers: Around 50 percent health, the Demon Wall will summon two Bloodlappers. These will cast Thunderstorm at random players, dealing damage in circular AoEs and inflicting Paralysis. Avoid these AoEs as you kill the Bloodlappers before returning your attention to the Demon Wall.

The Demon Wall will repeat these mechanics until it is defeated or it has moved all the way to the front of the arena. Kill the boss quickly while dodging Liquefy, and be mindful of the edges of the arena.

Anantaboga

The final boss of Amdapor Keep is Anantaboga. This boss will use the following attacks and mechanics.

  • The Look: Anantaboga will deal damage in a cone AoE to its front. The Tank should face the boss away from the rest of the party to avoid hitting them with The Look.
  • Rotten Breath: Similar to The Look, Anantaboga will deal damage in a cone AoE to its front, inflicting Disease. Again, keep the boss facing away from the rest of the party.
  • Tail Drive: Anantaboga will deal damage in a large cone AoE to its back, inflicting Concussion, which deals damage over time. The boss will only use this attack if there is a player standing directly behind it. Either stand to the sides of the boss for the duration of the fight, or quickly move outside this large AoE to avoid taking damage.
  • Imminent Catastrophe: This attack deals high damage to all players. Imminent Catastrophe can be avoided by hiding behind one of the four statues around the arena.
    • After each Imminent Catastrophe, a Dark Helot enemy will spawn. This add periodically casts Terror Eye, dealing high damage in a circular AoE. Quickly move out of this AoE to avoid taking damage.
  • Plague Dance: Anantaboga will target a random player with a purple tether, indicating that it will soon drop a Dark Nova orb on their position. The Dark Nova persists on the ground for a while, and repeatedly unleashes the Bubonic Cloud AoE, dealing high damage in the area. The targeted player should run away from the rest of the group to drop the Dark Nova, then stay away from it while it pulses damage.

Anantaboga will repeat these mechanics until it is defeated. The main mechanics to watch out for are Imminent Catastrophe and Plague Dance. Be sure to watch your positioning throughout this fight, and avoid each attack as necessary.
