Urth's Fount of Final Fantasy 14 is a unique trial. It is a difficult full-party fight that often has long queue wait times because the only roulette it appears in is the Mentor Roulette. Due to this, it is first recommended to use Party Finder when trying to complete this. If you don't use Party Finder, then prepare for what will likely be a long wait in the queue.

The fight is against Odin, a menacing primal that rides on a horse. You will need to be level 50 and have an item level of at least 95 (though you will definitely want the highest item level for maximum DPS damage) to get into this trial.

Last but not least, this trial only opens up through the quest "Fear and Odin in the Shroud," which is picked up by Scarlet in New Gridania. Prerequisites to unlock that quest are to complete "The Ultimate Weapon" main story quest and the quest "All You Wanted to Know about Odin."

Odin's Abilities

The fight requires all players to be attentive, as some attacks are avoidable while some are not. None of them can be interrupted, so be prepared to always be moving. The biggest attack to avoid is Shin-Zantetsuken, as that one is a party wipe if Odin is not killed before casting that attack.

One of the most important mechanics is to take down his spears ASAP when they drop. Mark an order for all players to attack the same spear.

Odin's Ability What It Does Player Strategy
Hall of Lead Casts AoE magical damage on three random players. Gives slow to everyone hit. Unavoidable attack on the three targeted. Take the AoE away from other players. Healers can Esuna the Slow affliction.
Hall of Sorrow Does magical damage to all players. Unavoidable to players. Healers must heal the raid-wide damage quickly.
Hall of Stone Casts ground AoE on random players (increases number of players targeted as the fight goes on). Anyone who is hit is Petrified for eight seconds. Can be avoided with the short window of two seconds to run out of the AoE. Petrification cannot be cured with Esuna.
Einherjar Raid-wide magical attack. Gives players 30-second damage over time effect. Unavoidable. Healers can Esuna the damage over time debuff.
Gungnir Gives three random players a purple circle AoE. Also inflicts raid-wide damage over time debuffs if three spears remain up. The damage over time cannot be healed with Esuna. Spears should be downed to avoid. Targeted players should keep the AoE away from others.
Valknut AoE cast around Odin himself. Avoidable, step away from Odin when he casts.
Sanngetal Single target attack against the player with the highest aggro. Hits hard. The one getting hit by this should be the main tank. The off-tank should provoke after it hits to make sure the main tank does not get killed.
Gagnrath Spears will appear on the outer sides of the fight and slash across. Avoidable. Has two patterns. Check where the spears point and run to safety where they would not cut when moving straight.
Shin-Zantetsuken Party wipes if cast. Starts once Odin is at 15 percent health or after six minutes. This is a DPS check. Everyone must focus their attacks on Odin and deal the most damage possible to get him down before the cast is finished. Limit Breaking is a good idea.
