Your old pal Wedge wants to restore Gilly, the guidance robot that helped you in Azys Lla, return to working order. The parts you need, however, are deep within the Fractal Continuum. Brave the depths of this Allagan museum and challenge the enemies that you find there. Let's take a look at each of the bosses of the normal version of the Fractal Continuum, their attacks and mechanics, and how to beat them.

How To Unlock The Fractal Continuum

The normal version of the Fractal Continuum is unlocked through the following side quest.

  • Accept the quest 'Do It for Gilly'
    • NPC Location: Notrelchamps - The Pillars (X:14.6, Y:12.2)

To accept this quest, you must first reach level 60 and complete the Main Scenario Quest 'Heavensward'.

Dungeon Walkthrough

The layout of this dungeon is pretty straightforward, but you and your party should be on the lookout for enemies that will join the battle throughout the dungeon. At various points, additional enemies will spawn while you are fighting trash mobs and join the battle, putting a bit of extra strain on the Tank and Healer. Be sure to pick these enemies up when they appear.

Throughout the dungeon, you will encounter Allagan Teleporters that will take you further into the dungeon when you interact with them. If you seem to be at a dead end, look for an Allagan Teleporter to continue.

In the third section of the Fractal Continuum, before the final boss, you will enter a large room with three platforms surrounding the final boss's arena. On each of these platforms are a group of enemies and a Crimson Control Unit. Defeat all the nearby enemies and activate the control unit to unlock the jump pads, which will take you to the two other sections where you will repeat this process to unlock the path to the final boss.

Phantom Ray

The first boss of the Fractal Continuum is the Phantom Ray, who will use the following attacks.

  • Double Sever: Phantom Ray will target his front and back, then left and right with large cone-shaped AoEs that deal damage and inflict Bleed. Move outside the AoE indicators to avoid these attacks.
    • Atmospheric Compression: During subsequent uses of Double Sever, multiple circle AoEs will also appear around the arena. Move carefully to avoid these while dodging Double Sever.
  • Atmospheric Displacement: Deals damage to all party members. Recover with AoE healing.
  • Rapid Sever: Deals high damage to the Tank. Use defensive cooldowns to mitigate this damage.

Phantom Ray will repeat these mechanics until he is defeated. This boss is pretty straightforward, but later in the fight you'll be dodging a lot of AoEs as the boss uses his attacks more frequently. Additionally, Phantom Ray will grant himself a damage up buff periodically throughout the fight. This means, as the fight continues, the boss's attacks will hit harder and the fight will become progressively more difficult.

Minotaur

The second boss of the Fractal Continuum is the Minotaur. This boss's attacks and mechanics are detailed below.

  • 11-tonze Swipe: Deals damage and knocks back in a short cone to the front of the boss. Move away or behind the boss to avoid.
  • 111-tonze Swing: Deals high damage and knocks back in a large point-blank AoE around the boss. Quickly move far away from the boss to avoid getting hit.
  • Disorienting Groan: The Minotaur will deal damage to all players and knock them back slightly before charging around the room, dealing damage as he moves. Then, when he stops charging, he will quickly cast 10-tonze Slash.
    • 10-tonze Slash: Deals damage in a narrow cone to the front of the boss. Move away from the front of the boss to avoid getting hit.
  • 1111-tonze Swipe: The Minotaur will move to the center of the arena and begin charging this attack, which will deal extremely high damage to all players if not interrupted. To avoid this, one player needs to run to one of the four tanks around the arena and interact with it, releasing an add to the arena. The Minotaur will become distracted by it and attempt to consume it for a damage buff. Destroy the add before the boss eats it to prevent it gaining the damage buff.

The Minotaur will repeat these attacks until he is defeated. There are a few untelegraphed AoE attacks through this fight, so be sure to pay attention to the boss's cast bar to determine where to move.

The Curator

The final boss of the Fractal Continuum is the Curator. This arena you face the Curator in is separated into sixteen square tiles, which will come into play later in the fight. This boss's attacks and mechanics are detailed below.

  • Sanctification: Deals damage in a large area to the front of the boss. The Tank should face the boss away from the rest of the party to avoid them being hit with this attack.
  • Unholy: Deals damage to all players. The Healer should recover the party's health with AoE heals.
  • The Educator: The Curator will light up certain squares on the platform, dealing damage and inflicting players who enter with the vulnerability up debuff. Don't enter the lit up squares for the duration of this attack.
    • Clockwork Alarum: Later in the fight, the boss will summon Clockwork Alarum adds. These enemies will move to random squares and begin lighting them up. Destroy them before this happens to avoid reducing the safe areas on the arena.
  • Aetherochemical Explosive - places a bomb: The Curator will target a random player and inflict this debuff on them, pulsing damage and knocking back nearby players. This should be cleansed as quickly as possible using Esuna, and nearby players should avoid the targeted player until the debuff is removed.
  • Aetherochemical Mines: The Curator will place mines on random tiles around the arena. Stepping on one of these will deal damage, knock back, and inflict paralysis. Avoid the mines as you dodge the boss's other AoEs.

The Curator will repeat these attacks until it is defeated. As the fight progresses, more Clockwork Alarum adds will be summoned at the same time. Destroy these as quickly as possible while dodging other AoEs. This fight will become progressively more difficult as it continues, so do your best to avoid the numerous AoEs and mechanics that occur.
