When it comes to Final Fantasy 14, there is lots of content to keep you busy and plenty of loot to earn and show off to your fellow Warriors of Light as a result. If you're not progressing through the main scenario campaign or leveling up, perhaps you might fancy tackling some special Boss FATEs that result in some rather coveted items.

The 'The Head, the Tail, the Whole Damned Thing' FATE is actually one of a two-part chain FATE, the first being called 'Nothing Like a Trappin' Life'. However, if you want to reap the rewards, you'll have to successfully complete both, so here's what you need to know.

How To Spawn The 'Nothing Like a Trappin' Life' And 'The Head, the Tail, the Whole Damned Thing' FATEs

These FATEs spawn in The Tempest, with 'Nothing Like a Trappin' Life' spawning first at (X:26, Y:24), which, if successfully completed, is immediately followed by 'The Head, the Tail, the Whole Damned Thing' at (X:27, Y:26). The locations of both of these FATEs are shown on the map above. As with any special Boss FATE, these do not appear on the map and will only appear on your mini-map once you are in close proximity.

Once defeated, these FATEs will not spawn again for at least another 36 hours, at which point the window will be open for the following 36 hours and there is a chance for the FATEs to spawn. You can check the current status of the window of these FATEs on Faloop.

In order to try and trigger these FATEs, you first have to complete a number of other FATEs within the same area. These FATEs are as follows and can be completed in any order:

FATE Location
Where Has The Dagon The Tempest (X:24, Y:21)
Ondo of Blood The Tempest (X:29, Y:12)
Lookin' Back on the Track The Tempest (X:24, Y:18)
Coral Support The Tempest (X:35, Y:9)
Low Coral Fiber The Tempest (X:36, Y:5)

If players fail to complete 'Nothing Like a Trappin' Life', then 'The Head, the Tail, the Whole Damned Thing' will not spawn and the window will close.

Completing these two chain FATEs with a Gold Rating will reward you with the 'Another World, Another Turn' achievement. You'll also earn some Archaeotania's Horns; the number of horns you receive is dependent on the rating you receive upon completion of the FATE. The best way to earn a Gold Rating is to party up with others.

Gold Rating 6x Archaeotania's Horns
Silver Rating 4x Archaeotania's Horns
Bronze Rating 2x Archaeotania's Horns

Where To Get The Toad Outfit And Tinker's Bell Minion

Once you've scored yourself some Archaeotania's Horns, head to Eulmore and speak to Fathard at (X:10.2, Y:11.7). Under the 'Glorious Gewgaws' options, the items you can purchase with horns are as follows:

Item Price
Toad Head (Head Armor) 5x Archaeotania's Horns
Toad Suit (Body Armor) 7x Archaeotania's Horns
Tinker's Bell (Minion) 6x Archaeotania's Horns

If you want to purchase all the items available with Archaeotania's Horns, you'll need to complete these FATEs at least four times ensuring you get a Gold Rating each time.
