Final Fantasy 14 is full of things to do, so if you want to take a break from the main campaign or dungeon-running, there's a whole host of activities to keep you occupied. Whether that's dabbling in other classes, crafting, raids, mini-games, or FATEs.

There are several rare special boss FATEs that only spawn every day or two, but the rewards are well worth the effort. Here's what you need to know about the 'A Finale Most Formidable' FATE.

How To Spawn The 'A Finale Most Formidable' Boss FATE

The 'A Finale Most Formidable' special boss FATE spawns atop the Bright Cliff around (X:33.9, Y:21.6) in Kholusia, with Stilltide being the closest Aetheryte point. You'll need to have progressed through the main scenario quest enough to have access to the northern half of the Kholusia map in order to reach it.

This FATE will only spawn once certain requirements have been met — five other FATEs need to be completed, in any order:

FATE Name Location
Ironbeard Builders - Rebuilt Kholusia (X:25, Y:17)
Ironbeard Builders - Resist Kholusia (X:18, Y:14)
Ironbeard Builders - Revolt Kholusia (X:16, Y:21)
Foes Most Formidable Kholusia (X:22, Y:14)
Family Most Formidable Kholusia (X:25, Y:21)

'A Finale Most Formidable' will only spawn if its window is open. Essentially, once it has been defeated, the FATE will not spawn again for at least another 24 hours. You can check the current status of the window for this FATE for your world on Faloop. When the window is open, you want to be completing the sequence of FATEs listed above in an attempt to spawn 'A Finale Most Formidable'.

Like other rare Boss FATEs, 'A Finale Most Formidable' will not appear on the map but it will appear on your mini-map once you are close enough.

Completing the FATE with a Gold Rating will reward you with the 'Be Still My (Automatic) Heart' achievement, and you'll also earn some Formidable Cogs. The number of cogs you receive is dependent on the rating you achieve for completing the FATE:

Gold Rating 6x Cogs
Silver Rating 4x Cogs
Bronze Rating 2x Cogs

Joining a party with others to complete the FATE is the best way to ensure you'll score a Gold Rating at the end of it.

How To Get Formidable Cogs And What You Can Buy With Them

You can then exchange your cogs with Fathard, who can be found in Eulmore at (X:10.2, Y:11.7). He offers a variety of wares, but the ones that can be purchased with Formidable Cogs are listed under 'Glorious Gewgaws' as follows:

Item Price
Ironfrog Ambler (Minion) 6x Formidable Cogs
Ironfrog Mover Key (Mount) 12x Formidable Cogs

Of course, if you want to purchase both items, you'll need to complete the FATE with a Gold Rating three times.
