Final Fantasy 14's third expansion, Shadowbringers, brought a massive continuation of the game's Main Scenario Quests. However, one of these quests, 'The Light of Inspiration', can be a bit tricky to complete.

Although most Main Scenario Quests are pretty straightforward, they aren't always perfectly clear on what you need to do. Shadowbringers made improvements on a few of the game's older systems like Job quests, which can make completing this quest, in particular, a bit confusing. Let's go over where to accept this quest and how to complete it.

How To Complete The Light Of Inspiration

The Light of Inspiration is a level 79 Shadowbringers Main Scenario Quest. It can be started from the following location.

  • 'The Light of Inspiration'
    • NPC Location: Y'shtola - The Tempest (x:22.0, y:10.9)

Follow the quest from Y'shtola. Eventually, you will be told to "complete any of the role quest lines available at the Wandering Stairs in the Crystarium". Essentially, this quest is asking you to complete the Role Quest for your chosen job before you can continue in the story.

Role quests are Shadowbringer's version of Job quests. Rather than each Job having a series of quests with unique characters and battles, they are instead divided into four Role Quests, one for each type of Job currently available in the game. There is a role quest for Tanks, Healers, Physical DPS, and Magical DPS.

To complete 'The Light of Inspiration', you'll need to finish one of these role quests. You do not need to complete all four, but there is a special epilogue quest available if you decide to do so.

You can begin each Role Quest from the NPCs listed below.

Job Quest Title NPC Location
Tank 'The Man with Too Many Scars' Granson The Crystarium (x:10.5, y:16.2)
Healer 'Traditions and Travails' Giott The Crystarium (x:10.7, y:15.4)
Physical DPS 'No Greater Sport' Lue-Reeq The Crystarium (x:10.8, y:15.9)
Magical DPS 'Hollow Pursuits' Cerigg The Crystarium (x:11.2, y:15.2)

After choosing a Role Quest to complete, follow the questline provided by each. You will receive a new quest every two levels; at levels 72, 74, 76, 78, and finally level 80. This means that although 'The Light of Inspiration' quest can be accepted at level 79, you'll actually need to be level 80 in order to complete it.

Complete the final Role Quest at level 80, and you will be able to return to the Tempest and continue 'The Light of Inspiration' and finish the rest of the Main Scenario Quests.
