Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers is many things. Its story is heartbreakingly good, its world is one wonder after another, and nearly every facet of its gameplay is a good time. No wonder it's so popular.

But depending on your personal tastes, you may find certain aspects of Final Fantasy 14 more frustrating than fun — aspects such as the game's occasional attempts at delivering 'old school' side quests by removing map markers, obvious hints, and all those other features we've grown accustomed to in modern RPGs. In Shadowbringers, one such quest pops up in Amh Araeng. It's the 'Mystery Miners' quest. And it's a doozy.

Unlocking the Mystery Miners Quest

It goes without saying, but you won't be able to complete 'Mystery Miners' without first unlocking it. Thankfully, the requirements aren't exactly steep. Simply progress through the main story until you've reached a small mining settlement called Twine in Amh Araeng.

Bear in mind, you won't be able to access Twine the first time the story sends you to Amh Araeng. Like most Shadowbringers regions, only a portion of the zone can be traversed upon your first arrival. The remainder will become available a few levels worth of questing later.

Once you're in Twine, seek an NPC named Drery. He's seated at a table chatting away at a buddy of his not far from the Aetheryte. Speak with him and you're good to go.

Solving the Riddle

Frankly, if you know where you're headed, 'Mystery Miners' is practically over as soon as it begins. Let's take a look at that riddle.

“On road leading afar, follow the third star, fear not the fall, look to the wall, at the first dry giant’s heel, the brave wanderer must kneel.”

There's only one real road to speak of in Amh Araeng, and that's the trolley tracks. From here, things take a quick turn toward the esoteric, but the gist is that you need to travel down the tracks for a while. Once you're in the vicinity of the treasure, "fear not the fall" and hop down to the ground below. The "first dry giant's heel" happens to be a specific tree at the following coordinates: (X:15.7, Y:17.0y)

"The brave wanderer must kneel" is mercifully self-explanatory. Use the /kneel emote at the tree to finish the 'Mystery Miners' quest and collect your reward. Don't worry about finding the right tree — not only is it the only one at these coordinates, but the ground even glows beside it to really hammer home you're in the right place.
