The second section of Final Fantasy 14's Castrum Lacus Litore will have you splitting up once again, this time to rescue prisoners being held captive in the Castrum. Let's take a look at how to effectively split your parties, and how to rescue the prisoners before they are executed.

How To Rescue Prisoners

After defeating Brionac and the 4th Legion Helldiver, both parties will join back together, but only for a few moments. The next section of Castrum Lacus Litore requires you to rescue six prisoners who are set to be executed. You will need to split the raid into six parties, who will each go down a different path and rescue a prisoner.

However, before you can begin rescuing the prisoners, you will need to defeat Albeleo and his minions.

Albeleo the Maleficent

This mini-boss must be defeated before you can rescue the prisoners. Albeleo will constantly summon minions that will use large AoE attacks and utilize Gaze mechanics that you will need to look away from. Albeleo's minions can be stunned and silenced to reduce the amount of AoEs you need to dodge, so be sure to use attacks that have those effects. Have the main tank group up all enemies and use your AoE attacks to quickly defeat Albeleo and his minions.

Prisoner Rescue

To complete this section of the dungeon, you will need to rescue six different prisoners who are being held captive in six different corridors. Refer to the map pictured below to get an idea of the different paths you can take.

To make things run more smoothly, have your party declare which direction you intend to go in before pulling Albeleo. If all parties are in agreement as to who is going where, you'll be able to get to the prisoners faster and ensure their safety.

Each path is relatively the same; they will each have a corridor with three doors that are locked when you first enter. Defeat the enemies in the corridor to gain the ability to unlock the doors.

Behind each door is one of three things; one of the doors will be empty, one will contain a mini-boss, and one will have the prisoner and executioner. Note that what appears behind the doors is random each time you enter Castrum Lacus Litore.

If you open the door to the mini-boss before the prisoner, don't attack it right away. You will need to rescue the prisoner first to ensure the executioner doesn't kill them. After defeating the executioner, return to the mini-boss door and defeat it. Doing so will open the platform in the corner of the room. One player will need to step on this platform to unlock the door back in the main area in order to progress to the next boss of the dungeon. As of patch 5.58, the player that steps on the platform does not need to remain on the platform until the door is open. Simply step on it once and you are free to leave.

If you don't rescue the prisoner on time, the executioner will kill them. While you can't fail the dungeon because of this, each prisoner you save grants an additional Personal Spoils chest at the end of the next section, so it's in your best interest to save them all.

After you rescue your prisoner and step on the platform, you can either head to another path and help the party there if they are still fighting, or go back to the main location and wait for the other parties to finish. Once all six platforms have been pressed, a 4th Legion Scorpion will spawn that needs to be killed. This enemy is pretty straightforward and doesn't require any mechanics or special strategies to defeat.

Once everyone has regrouped and the Scorpion is defeated, you can move on to the next boss, Adrammelech.
