This dungeon will be difficult if you aren't prepared. Some of Paglth'an's new mechanics can trip up even veteran players. Let's go over each boss of this dungeon, as well as their attacks and mechanics.

How To Unlock Paglth'an

This dungeon will unlock through the Main Scenario quests added in patch 5.5.

  • Accept the Main Scenario Quest 'The Flames of War'
    • NPC Location: G'raha Tia - Azys Lla (x:8.9, y:31.1)

Dungeon Walkthrough

As you enter Paglth'an, you will encounter several packs of enemies. Ideally, your party should aim to group up as many enemies as possible so both DPS can use AoE attacks more effectively. Repeat this process until you reach the dungeon's first boss, Amhuluk.

Additionally, later in the dungeon, blue AoEs will appear on the ground while you are clearing adds. These attacks will do massive damage to the enemies, so make sure they are grouped up inside the blue AoEs.

Amhuluk

This dungeon's first boss is Amhuluk. This boss will use some new mechanics you may not yet be familiar with. Amhuluk's attacks are listed below.

  • Critical Rip: Deals high damage to the player with the highest enmity, which should be the Tank. Use defensive cooldowns to mitigate this attack's damage.
  • Lightning Bolt: All players will be targeted with a lightning bolt effect. At the same time, similar lightning bolts will appear around the arena. Each player must move to one of the lightning rods positioned around the edge of the arena to move their lightning bolt onto it. Getting hit by any of these lightning bolts will deal damage and inflict the player with a magic vulnerability debuff.
  • Electric Burst: Amhuluk will use this attack immediately after Lightning Bolt, dealing high damage to all party members. Players with vulnerability should be especially careful, and the Healer should be prepared to heal up everyone's health.
  • Thundercall: The boss will summon lightning orbs around the arena that will pulse electricity in a small area around it. Avoid the lightning orbs while dodging the following two attacks.
  • Wide Blaster: At the same time as Thundercall, Amhuluk will turn to a random player and begin casting Wide Blaster. This attack will deal damage in a wide frontal cone.
  • Spike Flail: Immediately after Wide Blaster finishes casting, the boss will use this attack, dealing damage directly behind itself.
    • Avoid both Wide Blast and Spike Flail by moving to either side of the boss, while making sure not to run near any of the lightning orbs from Thundercall.

Amhuluk will then repeat these mechanics until he is defeated. After a brief encounter with a few packs of adds, you will reach the second encounter of this dungeon, the Magitek Foretress.

Magitek Fortress

This boss fight is a bit different than usual boss fights. Here, your goal is to destroy the Magitek Core protecting the fortress. First, you'll need to battle waves of enemies as they spawn while dodging lasers that are fired from the fortress.

At the top of the arena are three laser cannons. These will fire periodically, dealing damage in a straight line down the arena. However, only two lasers will fire at the same time, leaving one column safe for you to move to.

Eventually, a jump pad will spawn near the center cannon, allowing you to jump up to the higher platform and damage the Magitek Core. Deal as much damage as you can while on this platform, as you'll be shortly pushed off.

After being pushed off the top platform for the first time, Missiles will spawn on either edges of the arena and slowly move to the opposite side. These missiles will explode if they come into contact with a player, dealing high damage in a large area. Avoid these missiles while remaining safe from the lasers and continue to kill the adds that spawn.

Additionally, a knockback marker will eventually appear in the center of the arena. This will knock back all players in a direction relative to the center of the arena. Stand near the middle center to knock yourself back towards the wall to avoid the lasers that will fire at the same time.

Repeat this process a second time to complete this encounter and continue further into the dungeon.

Lunar Bahamut

The final boss of Paglth'an is Lunar Bahamut. This boss will use some new attacks while mixing in old mechanics you've probably seen before. Listed below are each of his attacks.

  • Twisted Scream: Lunar Bahamut will deal high damage to all party members. Have AoE heals ready for this attack. Additionally, Lunar Nails will occur immediately following Twisted Scream.
  • Lunar Nails: Two sets of four purple nails will drop onto the arena in sequential order. After a moment, the nails will explode in the order they dropped in. To avoid this attack, move to the location where the final nail will explode, then quickly move into the area where the second set of nails exploded, creating a safe area.
  • Perigean Breath: As the Lunar Nails are exploding, Lunar Bahamut will target a random player with this attack. Perigean Breath is a large cone that cover's roughly one-fourth of the arena, so move quickly to avoid this attack.
  • Akh Morn: Targets a random player with a stack marker, then deals AoE damage to that player multiple times in a row. Like other stack markers, all four party members must group up to split the damage of this attack between them. Healers should be ready to heal the party, as Akh Morn does massive damage, even when divided between the party.
  • Megaflare: All party members will be targeted with an AoE marker. Spread out to different edges of the arena to avoid overlapping this AoE. Then, a second AoE will appear at the same location as the first one, so quickly move outside to dodge.
  • Megaflare Dive: Lunar Bahamut will move to the edge of the arena before dashing to the other edge, sweeping all players with him. This attack occurs at the same time as Lunar Nails, so be prepared to move immediately after being knocked back by Lunar Bahamut's dive.
  • Kan Rhai: A random player will be targeted with a cross-shaped AoE. The affected player should move this away from the rest of the party before running out of the AoE themselves to avoid excessive damage.
  • Lunar Flare: Lunar Bahamut will summon large overlapping AoE circles that will begin to shrink. Find the spot where the AoEs will shrink and create a safe spot, then move there. Depending on the pattern of the circles, there will either be a safe spot around the edge of the arena or in the center.
  • Gigaflare: Deals high unavoidable damage to all party members. The Healer should prepare to restore the party's health.
  • Flatten: Deals high damage to the player with the highest enmity, which should be the Tank, who should use defensive cooldowns to mitigate this attack's damage.

Lunar Bahamut will begin to repeat these attacks until he is defeated. It's important to note the subsequent uses of Lunar Nails will cause more nails to spawn, so be prepared to dodge those later in the fight.
