Titania is one of the more memorable trials from Final Fantasy XIV's Shadowbringers expansion. They are the king of the fae tribes and have a gorgeous design. However, even on normal difficulty, Titania packs a punch.

Extreme difficulty takes a lot of practice and understanding the phases and mechanics of the fight. It is a crazy act to go into any FFXIV Extreme difficulty fight blind, so it is paramount to do research before jumping in.

First of all, to unlock this trial, players must speak to the Minstrelling Wanderer in the Crystarium at level 80. Once unlocked, study and practice the fight and work your way through Titania's four phases.

Phase One: Starting Mechanics

Parties that know what they are doing will assign puddle and fire positions to every party member before beginning the fight. This assigning is necessary for players to get past part of the fight where Titania places eight water puddles around the arena and then cast fire fist. One group of four must take up the puddles near her while others cover the outer puddles. It is most optimal for melee DPS and tanks to take the middle and for ranged DPS to take the outer. Healers can be either way, but keep in mind healing will be easier to reach others in the center puddles.

After that is decided, players will need to choose which of them should get tethered during phase two.

Once the fight begins, the main tank must keep Titania in the middle for the whole fight. Not far into the fight, Titania will say "Can you guess which one?" and cast Phantom Rune. The attack is an in or out AoE. Watch her closely to see if all players need to run in and stack under her or run out and away from her. If you get hit with this attack, you will become confused.

Next, come the water puddles. Remember your assigned position that was decided at the start of the fight and run to the puddle. Any puddle that does not have a player on it will spawn an add. Stay in the puddle until the purple orbs completely disappear.

After water comes fire where Titania will hit one group of players and then another. Four should stack in front of her and the other four should stack behind her, or they can stack on her left and right. This part also relates to the decided positions before the fight. Stick to your group of four. Immediately after this, the boss will cleave at the main tank, so they should point her away from all party members.

The last part of phase one is Titania's Briar Tethers. Healers and Tanks should run to one corner of the map and the DPS should run to the opposite to break the tethers. Keep in mind that it will be easier to break these tethers if the party members were close to each other when the tethers were cast. Then Titania will do her inside or outside AoE again.

Phase 2: The Forest

You will know when you are in Phase two because Titania will have changed the arena to a forest. At this point, they are at about 70 percent health.

Titania will cast a tether that will make an AoE blast around the tethered player six times. If a single player takes all these hits, they will not survive. This is why before the battle, players needed to decided who gets tethered in what order. That way, the damage can be spread around the party. Tanks can typically take two to three blasts if they pop their cool-downs while DPS and healers can take just one. Priority for who gets tethered should go to the tanks, healers, and melee DPS so that the ranged DPS can damage Titania while all this occurs.

Marking players with numbers can help them remember the order they should take the tethers. When tethered, be sure to stand away from the party so that they do not get caught in the AoE blast but also stand close enough to easily switch out with them.

Next, the boss will do a cleave, so the tanks need to face them away from the party. Both tanks are needed for this one.

Briar Tethers will then occur again. Once again, tanks and healers should move to one corner and the DPS need to run to the opposite. This time, two corners will have AoE's on them so players must go to corners without those.

Once the tethers break, position yourself so that the brambles Titania has summoned will not touch you. If they do touch you, you will be stunned.

After that, will be another tank cleave to point away from the party. Then a familiar mechanic will occur for those that remember the Shiva fight. Titania will summon circles to cast AoEs around, run to the last circle summoned and wait for the first circle, which is always in the center, to cast, and then run towards the center.

Once the circles have all popped, players will each get an AoE and need to spread out. After that, Titania will cast her in or out AoE mechanic again so either keep your distance from her or stack under her.

Phase Three: The Add Phase

For the third phase, Titania will summon three forest creatures: Mustardseed, Puck, and Peaseblossom. Kill these adds as quickly as possible, and it is important to kill them in order. First Mustardseed, then Puck, and then Peaseblossom. If these adds are not killed quickly, there could be a party wipe.

One tank should aggro Puck and the other Peaseblossom and keep them where they have spawned (Mustardseed doesn't move, so don't worry about it). While this is all happening, there will be AoE's to dodge.

Once the adds are dead, Titania will summon them again, except this time they are gigantic. Kill these ones in the same order as the first round of adds: Mustardseed, then Puck, and lastly Peaseblossom. There will be a lot of big AoEs to dodge some stack mechanics, so keep your wits about you.

During this, Titania will summon a blue circle under her and some vines that will appear either horizontally or vertically on the stage. Look for which way the vines are pointing, as they are going to slap down and you don't want to be on that side of them. Stay close to Titania's blue circle too, because that is a knock-back spell that will try to push you off the arena. However, do not go inside the circle cause that will kill you.

What you want is to be at the edge of the blue circle and pushed into the corner the vines are not facing so that they will not slap you.

While this occurs, the Briar tethers will also happen. So tanks and healers should group up on one side of the blue circle and the DPS should be on the opposite edge. The knock-back should automatically break the tethers. If not, just run a little further if possible without falling off.

Then there will large AoE attacks. Make sure the tether is broken before dodging the AoEs. There will be another stack while two other players have large AoEs. If you have the large AoE's, keep your distance. If you don't, stack on the player with the stack symbol.

Hopefully, by then all the adds are killed. If not, it could be a party wipe. As a last resort, DPS can use Limit Break.

Phase Four: Final Phase

At this point, you have seen all the mechanics of the fight. Do not relax too much though, as Titania will repeat mechanics but with a faster pace and with some tricky combinations of them.

They will cast the water bubbles again. At the same time though, they will cast the in or out AoE. Be sure to wait for the in or out mechanic before running to your bubble, because if it hits you then your character will be confused and not stay in their bubble.

Like in phase one, Titania will then do their fire fist attack. Stack into your groups of four on opposite sides of her like last time.

Unlike last time though, she will do this in combination with summoning brambles. If the brambles are summoned behind your groups, they will both have to rotate clockwise to the other water bubbles. If the brambles appear in opposite spots not behind players then stay put. After all that, Titania will do another in or out mechanic.

Once you have gotten this far, you have seen everything. They will just repeat mechanics from phase one and two until they are defeated.
