Final Fantasy 14's Delubrum Reginae is an important step in the Save the Queen questline. If you also plan on making a Resistance Weapon, you'll be running this dungeon quite a bit. Let's take a look at the dungeon's second boss, Dahu. We'll take an in-depth look at each of its attacks, as well as how to avoid them.

If you completed the level 60 dungeon Sohm Al (Hard), you may remember the boss Gowrow. Dahu will demonstrate similar abilities to this boss, and shares a similar appearance as well.

Dahu Walkthrough

The second fight in Delubrum Reginae is the mini-boss Dahu. While not as mechanically challenging as Trinity Seeker, Dahu still has a few attacks that can kill you.

Getting hit by any of Dahu's attacks will apply Twice-come Ruin. Getting two stacks of this debuff will inflict Doom — instantly killing you after a few seconds. Avoid Dahu's attacks as much as possible. Unlike Trinity Seeker, the first boss of Delubrum Reginae, the arena in which you fight Dahu is not surrounded by a death zone.

Below are each of Dahu's attacks, as well as how to avoid them.

  • Heat Breath: Dahu will deal a large amount of damage to the main Tank. Mitigate and heal as necessary.
  • Clawed Cleave: Dahu will raise one claw in the air before attacking in a wide cone in front of himself. This attack has no ground telegraph and must be dodged by paying attention to the boss's claws.
  • Left/Right-sided Shockwave: The boss will raise its left or right claw into the air, then attack in an area depending on which claw it has raised. Immediately after, it will attack the other side. For example, if Dahu raises its right claw, it will attack to the right of itself, then immediately to the left.
    • If you are playing a melee Job, dodge this attack by standing on the opposite side of its first strike, then quickly move to the other side. Ranged jobs can safely stay at range, as this attack's area of effect is small enough to avoid by standing far enough away.
  • Feral Howl: Dahu will deal a small amount of damage to all party members before knocking them back to the edge of the arena.
  • Firebreathe: Dahu will target a random player, then begin charging Firebreathe. This attack will be telegraphed in a large cone that covers most of the arena. Run to the side of the cone before Dahu finishes charging this attack to avoid being burned.
  • Rotating Firebreathe: Dahu will perform the same attack as regular Firebreathe, but will additionally rotate in a circle, unleashing a total of five Firebreathe attacks. Move behind the boss as it starts charging the attack, and run around it in a circle to avoid each Firebreathe. Dahu will indicate whether it will turn clockwise or counterclockwise before Firebreathe starts.
  • Marchosias: Dahu will summon untargetable adds that will use the following two attacks.
    • Head Down: The adds will perform a dash across the arena, dealing damage to any player in its path.
    • Hunter's Claw: This attack is a large, circular AoE centered on the adds. While easy enough to avoid on its own, this attack is used in conjunction with Dahu's Feral Howl, so you will need to ensure you aren't knocked into the AoE by Feral Howl's knockback.
  • Hot Charge: Dahu will immediately leap to one side of the arena, then begin charging a second dash. After a few seconds, Dahu will charge again to the wall of the arena opposite where he started, dealing damage to players in his path. He will then use Firebreathe, which will cover a majority of the arena. You can avoid Firebreathe by running towards the opposite wall after Dahu leaps away, predicting where he will end up at the end of the dash.
  • Falling Rocks: Dahu will cause rocks to fall in random spots around the arena. This attack is indicated by small circular telegraph markers and can be avoided by simply running out of the AoE when it appears.
