The In From The Cold is a level 83 main quest you will receive from the Lucia NPC in Garlemald. For completing the objectives successfully, you will receive 468,600 XP and 2,000 Gil. Below you will find a complete walkthrough of the In From The Cold quest in Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker.

In From The Cold Quest Overview

The Scions happen to be planning on attacking Fandaniel and Zenos in Garlemald, where you are assigned to take control of an Unknown Imperial to go back to the Camp Broken Glass within a specific time limit. The Unknow Imperial is somewhat limited to basic skills. The skills of the Unknown Imperial Soldier are similar to that of a Gladiator in the game. It will be easier to take control of the Unknown Imperial for those familiar with the Gladiator class.

Here is the set of skills that you will be dealing with:

  • Fast Blade - Fast Blade is a sword weapon skill that executes two-hit attacks for 200 potency and deals maximum damage when combined with other skills.
  • Fight or Flight - Provides an increase in the weapon damage by 25 percent for 25 seconds. You will be able to use the skill again after a 60 seconds cooldown.
  • Rage of Halone - A Gladiator and Paladin class weapon skill that delivers an attack with 100 potency. Using Rage of Halone after Riot Blade increases the attacking potency to 330.
  • Rampart - Rampart reduces the incoming damage by 10 percent for 20 seconds. You can use the skill again after a 90 seconds cooldown.
  • Riot Blade - The Riot Blade skill deals moderate damage to a single target for 170 potency. It increases the potency to 300 when you use it after Fast Blade.

Also, your character will not have any health regeneration powers. The only way you will be able to heal yourself is by finding health kits from the bodies of the dead imperials.

The Journey Begins

When you start the quest, you will find yourself playing as the Unknown Imperial, and you will have 25 minutes to reach the Camp Broken Glass. However, your objectives will change as you progress through the mission.

As the quest starts, go ahead and turn left to find a lone Tempered Imperial enemy standing at X: 23.7 Y: 15.1 coordinates. Defeat the enemy and inspect its body to find a Medical Kit. You can only carry a limited amount of medical kits in this quest.

The enemies you will face in this area are out of your league, especially the Magitek Units, which are much harder to take on with your character's abilities. It is better to avoid the enemies throughout the quest, as they will chase you around when you get caught in their vision. If you do get caught, run as far away as possible to lose their attention and avoid combat.

The area behind you will unlock after you defeat the first Imperial enemy and loot it for a medical kit. The next zone will be swarming with more Imperial soldiers and Magitek Units. Keep yourself within the ruins and search dead soldiers for more medical kits.

Locate The Immobilized Magitek Reaper

Keep roaming the area until you come across a Wrecked Magitek Reaper at X: 25.3 Y: 16.7 coordinates on the map. The wrecked machine will contain a Medical Kit that you can loot. Also, straight ahead from the Wrecked Magitek Reaper location will be an Immobilized Magitek Reaper at X: 23.9 Y: 16.9 coordinates.

The leg of the machine will be damaged, but you can still use the Immobilized Magitek Reaper in your favor to clear the path ahead. The weaponry of the reaper is still intact, and you can make it work again by finding an identification key and fuel. Your new objective is to find an identification key and a fuel power source to operate the Magitek Reaper.

Place a marker on the Immobilized Magitek Reaper just in case you forget the path, and you can reach back to it without losing your way.

Find The Immobilized Magitek Reaper's Identification Key

Head north from the Immobilized Magitek Reaper into the alleyway to find a Wounded Imperial soldier. The coordinates of the Wounded Imperial soldier on the map are X: 23.5 Y: 16.2. Then speak with the Wounded Imperial to receive the Immobilized Magitek Reaper's identification key.

Look For Fuel

Make your way to the coordinates X: 27.3 Y: 13.5 while avoiding the enemies to find a Fuel-concealing Wreckage. Remove the tank from the wreckage and head back to the Immobilized Magitek Reaper.

Getting attacked by the enemies on your way back with the fuel tank will make your character drop it. It is better to avoid the enemies or defeat them so that you can carry the fuel tank.

When you have successfully reached the Immobilized Magitek Reaper, refuel it to make the machine operational.

Clear The Path

Hop inside the Immobilized Magitek Reaper and clear the path from the machines blocking it. Use the weaponry of the reaper to shoot Drill Cannons and Diffractive Magitek Cannons to defeat the swarming enemies.

Once the path is clear, jump out of the Immobilized Magitek Reaper and continue on foot. There will be Tempered Imperial Soldiers coming to the scene. Avoid the soldiers and continue to the coordinates X: 22.1 Y: 18.3.

Protect The Civilians

On reaching the coordinates above, you will see an Armed Imperial Citizen getting attacked by a Morozko enemy. Help him defeat the creature and go forward to find more civilians fighting with Morozko, Ceruleum Zoblyn, Almasty, and Eblan Bear enemies.

Focus on defeating the bears first and then head towards the giant Almasty enemy. With the help of four other citizens, you will be able to kill it with no problem.

Next, go ahead further in the new area where you and the civilians will get attacked by Corrupted Imperial and Transformed Tempered Imperials. Your focus should be on the Tempered Imperials, as one of the civilians in the Magitek Reaper will take care of the Corrupted Imperial. The Corrupted Imperial will begin to explode after taking some damage. A circle will appear on the ground behind the Magitek Reaper. Run into the safe spot and stand inside it to escape the blast.

Crawl To Safety

Your character will get unconscious from the blast, and the screen will turn black. A quick time event will appear on the screen where you have to tap the button quickly for 10 seconds, not allowing the red bar to deplete.

When passed successfully, your character will regain consciousness and crawl out of there. Use the last of the strength to crawl back to Camp Broken Glass. Your quest will now be over, and you can get your rewards by talking to Alisaie.
