This short guide will go over every source of Ascendant Alloys and the best farm for earning them. There aren't many ways to acquire this resource, but we'll be sure to update this guide if Bungie adds any additional sources.

Updated June 26th, 2022, by Charles Burgar: Season of the Haunted's Nightmare Containment activity has a slim chance of dropping an Ascendant Alloy upon completion, giving casual players a slim chance of earning one of these prized upgrade materials. We've updated this article to include Nightmare Containment in the list of activities that currently drop Ascendant Alloys.

How To Obtain Ascendant Alloys

As of Season of the Risen, there are three ways of earning Ascendant Alloys, one method having a weekly lockout. If you're looking to farm this resource, prepare to farm Master-tier content.

Method Type Core Amount
Master Rahool Vendor 1
Nightmare Containment Activity 1
Witch Queen Weekly Campaign Mission Activity 1
Master Wellspring Activity 1

Master Rahool

Master Rahool sells one Ascendant Alloy each week for 400 Legendary Shards. This limit is account bound and resets with each weekly reset. Should you have the maximum amount of Ascendant Alloys at ten, you'll be unable to purchase additional Ascendant Alloys from Rahool.

Nightmare Containment

Season of the Haunted's Nightmare Containment activity has a small chance of dropping one Ascendant Alloy upon completing a T3 run. This chance seems quite small, but it is possible to farm Ascendant Alloys solely through this activity. There doesn't seem to be a way of buffing the Ascendant Alloy's drop chance; your best bet is to run this activity as many times as possible.

Witch Queen Weekly Campaign Mission

After completing enough Investigations at The Enclave, you'll be able to play the Witch Queen weekly playlist, allowing you to farm one Witch Queen campaign mission for rewards. One of these rewards is an Ascendant Alloy, its drop chance being determined by the difficulty you select. Master difficult has the highest drop chance, but note that it isn't guaranteed. The Legendary campaign does not drop Ascendant Alloys. The last two difficulty tiers of this playlist don't have matchmaking, so bring a fireteam if you plan to farm this.

Master Wellspring

Leveling Fynch to rank 18 will unlock the Master variant of the Wellspring activity. It's tougher, has a higher Power requirement, and has no matchmaking. To make up for this, Master Wellspring has the chance of granting an Ascendant Alloy when completed, although the chance of it dropping is uncommon.

The Best Ascendant Alloy Farm

Beyond purchasing Rahool's weekly supply, the best Ascendant Alloy farm is the Witch Queen weekly campaign mission. This playlist has the highest drop chance for this material out of all available sources, and it doesn't require six people. It's possible to solo a Master campaign mission, but don't expect it to be easy. Get a fireteam together, coordinate loadouts, and get familiar with the mission.

As for which missions are best to farm:

  • The Arrival: Besides the fight against the Lucent Lightbearer, this mission is quite easy. Stick to long-range weapons, don't play too aggressively, and have counters to all shield and Champion types.
  • The Last Chance: Simple mission that doesn't take too long to clear. Similar to Arrival, play cautiously if solo.

Beyond the campaign, you can also farm Ascendant Alloys by completing T3 Nightmare Containment. Each clear has a small chance of dropping one Ascendant Alloy. We recommend farming the campaign if you're looking for a more deterministic farm, but this is a method you can use nonetheless.
