Maui is one of the characters you can unlock while you play the game. Being the egoistic demigod that he claims to be, Maui unlocks various quests when you get the right friendship level for them. Luckily, friendship can be fairly easy to upgrade in the game.

How To Get A Tale Of Stone And Fire Quest

There are quite a few things you'll need to do before you can start the required quest with Maui. During this process, you will be able to unlock the ability to clear the smaller green storm debris on Dazzle Beach.

  • Firstly, progress the main quest with Merlin and unlock the Dream Castle by getting all the Royal Tools and 2,000 Dreamlight. Keep progressing the story until you fix the Pillar of Friendship so you can unlock Dazzle Beach.
  • Next, you need to head through the middle door at the bottom level in Dream Castle. This will allow you to unlock Moana and Maui with their respective quest. During Moana's quest, you'll unlock the ability to break small debris with your Royal Pickaxe.

You still won't be able to get rid of the bigger debris that is blocking the bridge on Dazzle Beach. For this, you need to finish A Tale Of Stone And Fire quest.

  • Finally, you'll need to reach friendship level four with Maui. To do this, you can talk to him every day and give him the three featured gifts. Further, you can also hang out with him and perform the assigned task after friendship level two.

How To Finish A Tale Of Stone And Fire Quest

Once you've reached the required friendship level, find Maui, and you'll see a pink quest icon on top of him. If you haven't done any previous quests with him, you might get to choose between these quests. Make sure you select A Tale Of Stone And Fire.

Maui will ask you to follow him to the beech where he will show you the debris that has a golden chest inside it in the corner of Dazzle Beach. Here, he'll ask you to retrieve the items in his basket from Moana and Maui's realm.

Head over to the Dream Castle and enter the middle door at the bottom level once again. Right beside Moana's boat, you will find the required basket that will contain the items Maui needs, and some extra stuff. Take this item back to Maui.

You'll give your pickaxe to Maui, and while he makes the upgrade, you'll need to bring him a five-star meal. An easy recipe to make for this quest is the Bouillabaisse. Here are all the ingredients you'll need for this one:

  • One Shrimp
  • Two Clams or Scallops
  • One tomato
  • One vegetable

Give the five-star meal to Maui and he'll give your pickaxe back, allowing you to break the bigger debris as well. Head back to the debris he showed you, break it, and get the item that is dropped from the chest to continue the quest.

For the final part of the quest, you'll need to craft a Granite Fire Bowl at any Crafting Station. You'll need a bunch of items for this, and here's how to get them:

Sand For the recipe, you'll need a whopping 20 sand. These can be acquired by breaking the storm debris on the beach with your Pickaxe. One large debris will drop around five to six sand.
Stone This is one of the easiest resources in the valley, and you'll need 25 of them. Stone can be acquired by breaking the stone structures with your Pickaxe all over the valley, or you can get them from the black rocks at the edges of each area.
Coal Ore If you cook a lot in Disney Dreamlight Valley, Coal Ore will be one commodity you'll always be short of. To get the ten Coal ore, you can break the black rocks at the edges of each area. Further, you can also get these by getting rid of night thorns or digging up shiny spots.
Red Falling Penstemon This is a type of flower that you can only acquire in the Plaza, which is the starting area. There are many colors for the Falling Penstemon flowers in this area.

If you don't have enough red ones, since you require three for this quest, make sure you pick every flower for a chance to spawn them back faster. The Red Falling Penstemon flowers are shown in the picture above.

After getting everything, head over to your crafting station and make a Granite Fire Bowl. This will have Maui's icon below it, making it easy to identify. Once you've crafted it, talk to Maui and place it anywhere in the valley.

While he will claim that the's brought fire to the area, this isn't really true because the Bowl is a decorative item and doesn't really do much. The whole point of this quest is to allow you to break the bigger debris with your pickaxe, and clear the bridge, so you don't have to go all the way around.
