I don’t really know what kind of creature Bishaten is. I mentally refer to it as “the baboon” because of the chimp-like features and poo slinging, but it also has wings and stands tall on a powerful tail. That is a chimaera, a mish-mash of other creatures, but it is also very cool - and tough to fight.

The Bishaten is one of the bigger new creatures you’ll have to fight in Monster Hunter Rise, and it can result in a big challenge if you’re not prepared for it. The poo it throws acts as a powerful projectile, and the tail can be used to keep hunters away from its back and sides, meaning few places are truly safe to hide.

In this guide we’re going to break down the best strategies to adopt before fighting Bishaten. This can be a very tough battle, but if you’re properly equipped with the weapon and armour that is most effective, then this fight can be over fairly painlessly. Just read below for everything you need to know in MHR.

Bishaten’s Strengths And Weaknesses

Bishaten is vicious and has a large tail, which acts as a big target. If you want to make the most of this fight, you need a weapon that can deal as much damage as possible to the tail. Most of the torso and legs of the Bishaten are fairly resistant, making the tail the best place to aim, and while all weapons are effective, sharp blades are the best to use.

But Bishaten’s poop acts as a poison projectile, so you don’t want to get hit by those. Bishaten totally cancels out Dragon damage, meaning you should avoid using those kinds of weapons. In addition to that, Bishaten will nullify Water damage. If you want to use elemental effects to your advantage, you should craft a weapon with ice elemental damage.

Best Weapon And Armor To Fight Bishaten

The best weapon to use against the Bishaten, in my opinion, is a bladed weapon made with materials from the Lagombi tree, and I suggest the Ivory Rabbit, an early Lagombi Long Sword. This will give your attacks ice elemental damage, and will do the most possible damage to the head and tail of the beast.

Protecting yourself against poison damage is a good idea, you should stock up on antidotes and heals, but other than that a solid and strong set of armour will be good, regardless of what specific elements it defends against. Just pick any set of armour you are able to craft which was the highest possible defence stat. If you still feel vulnerable, consider using Armor Spheres earned through Optional Quests to make yourself a bit more stable.

Quick Tips For Fighting Bishaten

The most important thing to remember is to try to attack the tail, as has been said here multiple times, but watch out for tail swings that will shake you off. You will want to stay mobile, and not locked into any attack animation for too long unless Bishaten is downed.

When Bishaten backs off and jumps on its tail to stand, move back, and prepare to dodge flying poop. Keep weaving in and out throughout the fight, and you’ll be able to take down this catastrophic chimp.
