But before you can reveal any mystery, you must hunt several monsters.

A triumphant returner to the series is the shady Gore Magala, originally presented in Monster Hunter 4 and last seen in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. This frenzy monster brings interesting mechanics into the battlefield and its fight is always a fun one to play. Here's everything you need to beat it.

Gore Magala - Strengths And Weaknesses

Gore Magala is a fairly fast monster, but its weakest points are pretty much obvious ones, so you won't have any problems breaking parts and hitting a bit of extra damage on those weak spots. Its head it's the most obvious one, but keep close attention, because when it enrages the horns that will pop up can also be broken, especially if you want the specific drop from those, the Gore Magala Sensor. A slashing weapon that can inflict Fire or Blast will be especially strong against this shady creature, and you can find several options in the Magnamalo, Rathalos and Espinas weapon trees.

  • Weak Points - Head, Neck, Fore Legs
  • Resistant Points - Torso, Wingarms, Wings
  • Elemental/Ailment Weakness - Blast, Fire
  • Elemental/Ailment Resistance - Poison, Paralysis
  • Best Weapon Type - Slashing Damage

Best Equipment To Fight Gore Magala

To effectively punish Gore Magala, you want to resort to slashing weapons that can either deal Fire or Blast Damage. Given this monsters' mobility you also want a weapon that can give you an edge on that as well, so an Insect Glaive sounds like the best category to look upon. Weapons like the Firedance Rathmaul+ (Rathalos line), Rosenstange+ (Espinas), and the Sinister Shadowstaff + (Magnamalo) will become your best friends in this fight.

On the armor side, you don't need any specific elemental resistance since other things are way more important in this fight, so you want armor sets that can provide skills like Consitution, Evade Window, or Evade Distance if you prefer a more mobile approach, so armor sets like the Mizutsune X, Zinogre X, or Nargacuga X with Constitution (halving stamina consumption when evading or blocking), Speed Eating (which speeds up the Potions and Mega-Potions while they're healing), or Evade Window skills (which extends the invulnerability period when you evade) will be certainly useful and will sport enough Raw Defense for you to keep a steady assault against Gore Magala.

Another great option is the Lunagaron armor set, which presents a new skill called Redirection. This ability turns a perfect-timed Switch Skill Swap into an auto-evade movement that also recovers your Wirebug Gauge, and if you remember the Temporal Mantle from Monster Hunter World, you know that's something that can't be overlooked.

Gore Magala - Fight Breakdown And Moves

Gore Magala is a very fast, hard-hitting monster. You must always flank it, or as often as you can, since attacks like the shadowy projectiles it can shoot at you can be quite vexing. Gore Magala introduces a particular Ailment called Frenzy, and while it's not a new mechanic, it can catch you off-guard. When you get Frenzy applied, you must attack Gore Magala as much as you can until you cure it and obtain an attack boost as a result. However, failing to do so will give you a temporary defense debuff, so be careful and try to hit as often as you can. During this part of the fight, the monster will shoot a small AoE attack, but do not be fooled, it can expand quickly, so move out of the way.

Once Gore Magala enrages, it will unleash its true form, sporting a shadowy aura and luminescent horns. It will start to attack you more aggressively, and also shoot a frenzy Linear AoE that will expand up to three times. Avoid by any means to be hit by that, or you can easily get one-shot. Once you hit the monster enough you will make it revert back to the normal form, and the cycle will begin again until one of you two dies.
