Seething Bazelgeuse was added in Sunbreak's first Title Update. The variant monster burns even hotter than the nominate species, and its blastscales have a wider range and blast radius. It's just as strong as it was in Iceborne. Seething Bazelgeuse can be one of the most intimidating monsters in the game, but it's by no means insurmountable. Here's how to take it down.

Seething Bazelgeuse - Strengths And Weaknesses

The weakest points on this monster are its head and tail. The head is easy to hit, but its tail is held off of the ground, out of the reach of most weapons. If you need a tail cut, use a weapon with reach, like the Long Sword. Standing by Bazelgeuse's legs will keep you safe, but they have bad hitzone values. Ice and Thunder weapons do massive damage to this monster - 25 and 20 respectively at the weakest points. Seething Bazelgeuse is also very vulnerable to Sleep - but Sleep weapons are hard to come by. Try using Sleep coatings or ammo on ranged weapons instead. Blast and Fire are ineffective, naturally.

  • Weak Points - Head, Tail
  • Resistant Points - Back, Legs
  • Elemental/Ailment Weakness - Ice, Thunder, Sleep
  • Elemental/Ailment Resistance - Fire, Blast
  • Best Weapon Damage - Bludgeoning

Best Equipment To Fight Seething Bazelgeuse

The Insect Glaive is perfect for hunting Seething Bazelgeuse. Its major weak points are the head and tail, and when it attacks with one, it leaves the other open. Instead of running around this huge wyvern, you can just vault over to the opposite side. A well-timed vault can also get you away from blastscales, since their vertical hitbox is not huge. The Switch Axe is also a decent alternative with its great elemental output. You want Ice weapons for this fight, and the Barioth tree is a great choice. Midgard Storm + is the Barioth Insect Glaive, and Amber Snapfrost is the Barioth Switch Axe.

Kaiser X - the MR Teostra armor - has the second-highest innate Fire resistance in the game. It also has a great set of Affinity-focused skills. If you have an Ice weapon, you might want to make a mixed set of Kaiser X and Zinogre X. The Zinogre X head, arm, and waist pieces all have Critical Element. You should still have mostly Kaiser X armor for the Fire resistance. There is also the Silver Rathalos armor, with its fantastic Elemental Exploit skill, but it's not available before the Seething Bazelgeuse Urgent Quest. Keep it in mind if you want to return to Seething later on.

  • Weapons - Midgard Storm +, Amber Snapfrost
  • Armor - Kaiser X, Zinogre X

Seething Bazelgeuse - Fight Breakdown And MovesPlayer running from a Seething Bazelgeuse in Monster Hunter Rise

Your first instinct when fighting Seething Bazelgeuse may be to stay as far away from the monster as possible. Ranged weapons are all well and good, but this boss is not as difficult as it seems with melee weapons. Positioning is key. Bazelgeuse's blastscales will keep you out of the mid-range most of the time, but it has few options in the extreme close-range. If you stay as close to the monster as you can, many of its blastscales will fly right past you.

This monster's infamous "bombing run" attack occurs less frequently than its nominate species, but is much more dangerous. It follows the same pattern - two passes dropping bombs, and then a diving attack. Seething Bazelgeuse spreads its bombs across a much wider area, and they stick to walls too. The best counter to this attack is to knock it out of the sky with a Flash Bomb. If you do not have a Flash Bomb, the only real option is to dive evade when the monster crashes.

Seething Bazelgeuse will glow purple-white when it is enraged. During this time, its blastscales will shine purple and "bloom" before exploding. These scales have a larger blast radius than normal, so watch out. If you do enough damage to its glowing head and tail when it is enraged, it will blow itself up and topple, ending the rage state. Fail to do enough damage in time and Seething Bazelgeuse will do its strongest attack. If you see it spread blastscales in a wide circle and hover in the center, do not run towards the monster. It is about to crash and cause a huge explosion. Do a diving evade away from the center.
