One of the newest materials in Sunbreak is the Melding Pudding, a rare and potent Melding Material used to receive more Talismans from the Melding Pot. As mentioned, Melding Pudding is hard to come by and can take quite some time to farm or get your hands on. Nonetheless, this Material is a must-have for end-game content in Sunbreak, especially if you're looking for different builds for specific bosses, making the grind of getting it worth every second.

Melding Pudding Overview

There are several different Melding options available in Sunbreak, with the vast majority of them being reserved for low to mid-tier Talismans. When it comes to using Melding Pudding, you will always want to use them on one specific type of Melding: Anima. Anima Melding is the only one that can produce Talismans with a Rarity 10 ranking, which is the best you can get in the game.

However, to gain access to this powerful Melding Method, you must meet a few requirements beforehand. This is essential to know as you will have no use of Melding Pudding and cannot even obtain it until you clear specific quests in the game. To avoid this hurdle, please look at the requirements below!

Requirements

  • Obtain Master Rank 6★
  • Clear Urgent Quest: The Devil's Reincarnation
    • Slay Sunbreak's Final Boss (6★ Hub Quest)

With the above prerequisites met, you will finally have access to Master Rank Melding, which adds the Anima and Reincarnation Melding Methods as available options to your Melding Pot. Now that you have access to these Melding Methods, we can finally get into the star of the show: Melding Pudding.

How To Use Melding Pudding

Before getting into how to obtain the rare and elusive Melding Pudding, we want to cover what it is, how to use it, and why it's such a phenomenal Melding Material. When dealing with the brutal end-game hunts in Sunbreak, you will most likely be relying on Talismans and Armor to keep you in the fight, and Melding Pudding will help you get the best Talismans in the game.

Melding Pudding Information

Melding Pudding is a Rarity 8 Melding Material that can be used on most of the Melding Methods present via the Melding Pot. While you can use it on low, mid, and high-level Melding Methods, we strongly urge you only to use Melding Pudding on Anima Melding.

Anima and Reincarnation Melding Methods are the only way to receive Rarity 10 Talisman, which is needed for the challenges that await you post-credits. Furthermore, to craft one Talisman with this Method, you will need 200 Melding Points. And, it turns out, one Melding Pudding is exactly 200 Melding Points, meaning one Melding Pudding equals one Talisman.

Essentially, instead of tossing Master Rank Monster Materials into the Melding Pot, you can use one Melding Pudding and receive a Talisman. This allows you to hold onto materials you may need down the road to progress through a Weapon Tree or craft armor.

Melding Method Talisman Rarity Melding Point Cost Order Limit Melding Pudding Value
Anima Rarity 8 - 10 200 Melding Points
Per Talisman
Five Talisman
Per Order
200 Melding Points
x1 Melding Pudding

That's the long and short of it. If you want a Rarity 10 Talisman, you will either have to sacrifice many Master Rank Monster Materials or toss in one Melding Pudding and hope for the best. Since you can get anything from a Rarity 8 to a Rarity 10 Talisman, we feel that using Monster Materials isn't the best option, but we understand if you cannot wait or farm for Melding Pudding. We will now go over how to get your hands on this Material in the section below!

If you're wondering what the Reincarnation Melding Method is, you essentially exchange 10 Talisman (8 Rarity or Greater) and 1,000 Kamura Points for three different Talisman with higher stats. However, since you cannot use Melding Pudding for this Method, we will not be covering it extensively here!

How To Get Melding Pudding

Finally, it's time to dive into how you can obtain the Melding Pudding you've been learning about this whole time. Currently, there are only two ways to get this rare, potent Pudding: via Sunbreak's Backroom Deals Argosy system or the classic way, hunting some monsters. We will go into more details on both below.

Argosy: Backroom Deals

The good news is that Backroom Deals is the easiest way to obtain Melding Pudding, but the bad news is that it's also the most inconsistent and unreliable method as well. First things first, you will have to unlock the new Argosy by speaking with Nagi, the Buddy Agent, as you progress through the main story of Sunbreak. After a while, Nagi will allow you to partake in Backroom Deals, giving you access to his Argosy. Once this happens, do the following to try your hand at obtaining Melding Pudding:

  • Speak with Nagi > The Argosy > Order Items > Trade Requests
    • You can also speak with Rondine if you're in the Buddy Plaza.

When you're at the Trade Requests menu, look for a slot that allows you to send a Palamute or Palico on a Submarine Adventure. There will always be one slot dedicated to this, but there can be up to three total if you unlock all Submarines via Sunbreak Quests. Next, hover over this entry and press the corresponding button prompt (Square, X, or Y depending on controller/system) that allows you to add a Letter of Introduction to the Submarine Adventure. Doing this will make it possible for your Buddy to bring back a Locked Treasure Chest, MP Accelerant, and the coveted Melding Pudding.

Your Buddy will only progress through the Argosy Adventures whenever you complete Hunts, meaning jumping in and out of Expeditions won't work. So, just take on Hunts and regularly check if they're back from their journey.

Hunting Monsters

And lastly is the classic and traditional method of hunting monsters. While, on paper, this way sounds easier, Melding Pudding only drops from Master Rank 6★ Hunts, the game's current highest difficulty Hunts. This means it will take lots of time and dedication to farm this Material, but it is a win/win as you will also be obtaining Master Rank 6★ Monster Material. That is if you want to farm for a specific end-game armor and weapon set.

Furthermore, you can also obtain Melding Pudding by slaying Afflicted Monsters via Anomaly Quests of all kinds, ranging from Master Rank 1★ to Master Rank 6★. However, be warned, Afflicted Monsters are no joke, even at "Master Rank 1★." Because, technically, Afflicted Monsters are punching well above Master Rank 6★ Hunts, even the supposed 1★ ones. They are all in a league of their own and can demolish even the most skilled and prepared hunter.

Drop Rate

Unfortunately, there is no concrete drop rate for Melding Pudding yet for slaying Master Rank 6★ Monsters or Afflicted Monsters. There's no guaranteed way to obtain this Material from Hunts either, as it is a random Material Quest Reward at the post-mission screen.

Though this way can technically be faster than the Backroom Deals method, you can do both in tandem to increase your odds of getting your hands on that sweet Melding Pudding. You can send your Buddies out on a Submarine Adventure and dive into a Master Rank 6★ Hunt or an Anomaly Quest, complete it, see what your Buddies brought back, and rinse and repeat until you can no longer function... or something like that.

Anyways, these are essentially the only options you have at your disposal to obtain Melding Pudding, which is absolutely worth the hassle. Sure, it may take quite a bit of time and some managing, but you are already at the end-game, so what's several Master Rank 6★ Hunts to you? You were going to do them anyways. May as well do them with the goal of snagging some Pudding in mind!
