Elden Ring has a lot of bosses that players will come across in their playthrough. Aside from the field and dungeon bosses, you will also face demigods. Some of these demigods are shardbearers of the Elden Ring. Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, is one of the bosses that possess a Great Rune and is the main boss of the Legacy Dungeon in Liurnia of the Lakes.

  • Great Rune of the Unborn
Weak To Bleed/Physical

Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, is located in the Academy of Raya Lucaria. You can reach her from the Debate Parlor Site of Grace. Fighting the boss is mandatory to advance the Legacy Dungeon and the story. Summoning both online players and Spirits Ashes is possible in the fight. You can summon any Spirit Ashes in the two phases. However, because of the first phase not being much at all, you can save the summon for the second phase. Summoning an online player will speed up the first phase by dividing the process of finding the Scholars with Golden Aura.

The boss is quite weak to the Bleed affinity.

You can bring a Katana or Claw because of their passive and how it is easy to find one. If you do not have a bleed weapon, you can also coat your right-hand armament with Blood Grease, or BloodFlame Blade Incantation found above the Rose Church in the Lake of Liurnia.

Defeating the boss gets you the Great Rune of the Unborn as well as Remembrance of the Full Moon Queen. After the boss fight is over, Rennala turns into a non-hostile NPC, and you can reallocate your stats here using a Larval Tear.

If you do not wish to face her, then you can defeat any other shardbearer allowing you entry into Leyndell, Royal Capital.

Strategies

There is only one main strategy for this boss fight: getting in close and striking until your stamina bar depletes. Though using a bow as a ranged strategy might work but not as good.

Using Sorcery or any Incantations in the fight is not recommended as Rennala is strong against all kinds of magic.

Melee Strategy

There are two phases in the fight against Rennala. In the first phase, you will have to attack the Scholars who have a golden aura around them. After breaking three auras, Rennala will fall down for a small period of time, allowing you to get free hits in. Rennala is mainly weak against Bleed.

A fast bleed weapon like the Katana can take out half her health before she floats again.

After taking out her health, her second phase will begin. In the second phase, Rennala has a lot of attacks that she uses from time to time. Most of the attacks do not do much damage or pose any threat; however, the Energy Orb and Energy Beam can decimate your health if you are not too careful.

Closing the gap between the boss is the main thing you need to do in the second phase.

Rennala has a lot of attacks that allow her to move back or keep you at range. Going in close will make her summon creatures to aid her and other attacks. Summoning an online player can make the fight easier than it already is. Both players can either use a Bleed weapon to stack Blood Loss or use Greatswords to stagger the boss for a free critical hit.

Ranged Strategy

For the ranged strategy, you should use a bow. Sorceries and Incantations are better for other boss fights, but Rennala is strong against all kinds of magic. You can choose any bow you want for the section. The short bow has a faster rate of fire but shoots at medium range, so you might need to dodge a few attacks. You can also try any great bow if you have and attack her by fully charging your shot.

For the ranged strategy, you should consider bringing in a player who can get close to the boss and keep the boss's aggro. The Shabiri's Woe talisman can be very useful for your summoned friend as it can increase threat aggression. If you do not want to summon an online player, consider using a Spirit Ash. There are loads of Spirit Ashes in the game that are melee and can tank while you charge your bow shots. You can also use the Mimic Tear (Spirit Ash), which copies your loadout and stats, making you both use a bow against the boss.
