Destiny 2 has introduced gilded titles in Season of the Chosen, letting dedicated Guardians show their dedication towards a certain game mode. Gilding a title changes the text from a purple color to a golden color, also showcasing how many times you've gilded that title beside your name. Players can currently gild the Flawless, Unbroken, Dredgen, and Conquerer titles.

Unbroken is a rather easy title to gild for players that went through the trouble of earning Unbroken itself. This title should be a breeze to earn if you're savvy with a Fusion Rifle and 1v1 duels. Let's go over everything you'll need to gild the Unbroken title in Destiny 2's Season of the Haunted.

Updated June 27th, 2022, by Charles Burgar: Season of the Haunted has given PvP mains a new opportunity to gild the Unbroken title. Most gilded Triumphs are the same as last season, requiring you to win matches and demonstrate your mastery with a particular weapon. We've updated this guide to reflect current gilding standards for the Unbroken title as of Season of the Haunted.

Earn The Unbroken Title

As with all gilded titles, you must earn the standard title before you can gild it. In this case, you must earn the Unbroken title before you can start gilding it. Gilded Triumphs are not retroactive, so making progress towards them while you're still chasing the default title is a waste of time.

We have a guide on earning the Unbroken title that you can read here. Earning that title will unlock six additional Triumphs that, if completed this season, will gild the Unbroken title.

To The Victor

To the Victor: Win 60 Crucible matches. Glory playlists contribute more progress.

Winning 60 PvP matches is much less daunting than it sounds. All playlists grant progress. If you love Control, get a team together and farm. If you prefer Rumble, farm that playlist for a few play sessions. Since you already have Unbroken, winning PvP games shouldn't be a big ask.

For getting this done as fast as possible, you have two options:

  1. Competitive PvP (Survival)
  2. Rotating Playlists

Competitive PvP grants more progress for each win, but you'll quickly hit a progression wall once you reach Mythic. If you haven't played Comp at all, it isn't a bad idea to dive into this playlist.

We recommend that you farm the rotating playlist. More specifically, you'll want to farm Momentum Control, Mayhem, or Team Scorched whenever it's up. All three of these game modes are short, feature short TTKs, and don't rely as heavily on coordinated tactics from your team. As for general tips:

  • Mayhem: Spec for 100 Intellect and spam your Super as often as possible. You can also use Tractor Cannon or suppression-based abilities to shutdown enemy Supers.
  • Momentum Control: Use Pulse and Scout Rifles. They have absurdly short TTK values in this playlist and are easy to use. Dead Man's Tale, Jade Rabbit, 340 Pulses, and 540 Pulses are all great options. Dead Messenger also one-taps in this mode.
  • Team Scorched: Use a movement Exotic, and stay in the air whenever possible. Scorch Cannons work just like Special GLs; hold to fire, release to detonate. Detonate your shots near an enemy to drastically improve your KD ratio.

Watch Them Fall

Watch Them Fall: Defeat 350 Guardians in the Crucible.

Considering you need to win 60 Crucible matches to finish this gild, you shouldn't even worry about this Triumph. You'll have 350 kills well before you win 60 matches. If you are just shy of finishing it and need quick kills, play Momentum Control or Rumble. Consider using a Shotgun during this to make progress towards the seasonal weapon Triumph.

Unfaltering Glory

Unfaltering Glory: Achieve a 4 Win Streak in a Glory playlist this Season.

Winning four consecutive matches in Comp is brutal. If you haven't played Comp at all this season, you might be able to pull this off fairly easily in the Freelance playlist. For those trying to climb to 5,500 Glory, this is going to be much harder.

You have three choices for getting this done:

  1. Try your luck in the Freelance playlist.
  2. Get a team together and try your best.
  3. With a team, use the cheesiest loadouts possible

Freelance is a unique playlist that only pits solo-queue players against one another. You won't fight three-stacks in this mode, meaning there's a more level playing field. If you're a skilled player that can carry their team, Freelance might be for you. If you're struggling in the Freelance playlist—especially if you're in the higher ELO brackets—then consider queueing for non-Freelance Comp. You'll be more likely to get a duo in your team that is capable of watching your back.

Getting a team together is recommended if you're average at Crucible but can't make up for bad teammates. A coordinated team is substantially better than an uncoordinated fireteam. Make good callouts, don't get too aggressive, and remember to take breaks if you lose.

There are some cheesy loadouts you can use to drastically improve your odds of winning. Three notable loadouts include:

  1. Behemoth Engine: Everyone on your team plays Behemoth with Howl of the Storm and Tectonic Harvest. Use Whisper of Rime. Each player alternates between breaking crystals, giving the whole team overshields. It's incredibly tough to die with this setup.
  2. Boots of the Assembler: These Warlock boots grant a 35% damage buff to your allies while standing in an Empowering Rift. This allows your allies to one-shot enemies with a GL or Sniper Rifle. Play Middle Tree Dawnblade to get your Rifts back quickly.
  3. Invis Hunter: Use Omnioculus or Gemini Jesters with Nightstalker. Spec heavily into invisibility through your Aspects and Fragments.

There are many more viable builds for Comp, but these three are incredibly cheesy and tough to counter.

Valor Knows Not Defeat

Valor Knows Not Defeat: Achieve a 6 Win Streak in a Valor playlist this Season.

This challenge is not referring to your Crucible Play Streak. Valor Knows Not Defeat requires that you win six consecutive PvP games. This can be in any playlist—core, competitive, or rotating.

If this Triumph does not complete after six wins, you'll need to win an additional game. Some players have reported this Triumph requires seven wins, not six, despite the API stating otherwise.

It's going to be tough winning six games in a row, regardless of playlist. Here are a few tips:

  • Get a fireteam: If you can coordinate with a full team, your chances of winning will skyrocket. Try to complete this Triumph whenever your friends or clan are online.
  • Play the objective: Defending capture points or playing for lives will encourage defensive, more cautious play. Enemies will naturally gravitate towards objectives or your location in 3v3 modes, so use this to your advantage.
  • Take breaks: You're very unlikely to get this on your first try. If your streak ends, take a break and attempt it later. Playing while frustrated is going to make this win streak harder to achieve.

Valor Unbound

Valor Unbound: Reset your Valor twice this Season.

Resetting your Valor rank is rather easy, so long as you frequent the Crucible. As with Gambit's Infamy ranks, you'll want to focus on the following:

  1. Earn Play Streaks: Play Streaks drastically improve your Valor earnings. At a x5 Play Streak, expect to earn twice as much Valor each game.
  2. Play During Double Valor Weeks: Whenever Iron Banner is active, Bungie will double the amount of Valor each Crucible game gives. This is the perfect time to reset your Valor.

Machine Gun Mastery

Machine Gun Mastery: Defeat 25 Guardians with Machine Guns this Season.

For this Triumph, you'll need to defeat 25 Guardians with any Machine Gun. Since Machine Guns reside in the Heavy slot, progress towards this Triumph is going to be slower than previous weapon-based Triumphs. Modes that spawn more Heavy ammo—notably Mayhem—are highly recommended.

As for good Machine Guns, we have a few recommendations:

  • Commemoration: A PvP roll of this gun is excellent, featuring minimal kick and excellent range.
  • Heir Apparent: The weapon's overshield is great for absorbing abilities and other high-damage weapons.
  • Xenophage: Two shots will kill any Guardian, and the weapon has virtually infinite range.
