But the smaller maps and player counts of the arena modes mean newbies won't get to lean on the strengths of teammates as much as they could in Big Team Battle. And as the days wear on and more and more players continue to jump into the fray, the need to level up your skills will only continue to grow. So take your skills to the next level and fill that experience gap by making use of these pro tips and tricks.

Updated May 28, 2022: Now that Halo Infinite Season 2 is out in the wild, and Forge mode is expected to launch later this year, it looks like 343 Industries is really committed to making their latest game an ongoing experience. And as returning players jump back in to check out the new Catalyst map, they'll also want to take a look at our updated list of tips for arena modes.

7/7 Know When To Back Off From A Fight

Because of the smaller map sizes found in the various arena modes, trigger-happy players shouldn't have to go too long before seeing a suitable target to shoot at. And while it might be tempting to go for the kill every single time you spot an enemy player, you should never do so at the expense of situational awareness.

Let's say you spot an enemy with a power weapon while you only have a needler on you. Chances are you'll be taken out long before you get the opportunity to do enough damage to bring down the player. Not every encounter with the enemy can be won with brute force or the sheer power of will, so you should know when to run if the odds seem stacked up against you.

6/7 Keep Your Power Weapons Concealed

Speaking of power weapons, the reason why you can usually tell if an enemy player has one is because of the prominent sizes of the weapon models. This is especially true of melee variants like the Energy Sword or Gravity Hammer, which also leave a glowing trail while in active use.

But it is possible to give yourself a greater tactical advantage when you have one of these in your possession, simply by keeping it holstered until you are ready to go for a kill. That way, other players have no idea what kind of heat you are packing until it's too late.

5/7 Position Yourself For Victory

There are a total of seven maps in Halo Infinite's arena modes and each one has its defining features and nuances. But if there is one thing that separates pro players from newbies regardless of which map they are playing on, it is how effectively they make use of their surroundings and any available resources.

The importance of knowing what positions to hold on each map cannot be overstated since this often determines which players or teams end up dominating the match. Typically, you'll want to stick close to spawn points for crucial items like power weapons. At the very least, you'll want to ensure that you have a good vantage point and adequate cover or escape routes should you need to use them. Do that and you'll soon start racking up those killing sprees.

4/7 Keep An Eye Out For Power Weapons

There are many guns to choose from in Halo Infinite, and even pistols and assault rifles can feel quite deadly in the right hands. But if you really want to feel like an elite Spartan then you should prioritize getting your hands on one of the power weapons. These spawn at random during the course of the match, so keep an eye out for when they do (the announcer always announces when a new drop is about to be made).

The Gravity Hammer and Energy Sword are great at one-shotting enemies, even though they do require getting up close and personal. One particularly deadly pair is using the Energy Sword in conjunction with the Grappleshot: you can use the latter to cut the distance between you and nearby enemies, before finishing them off with a strike of the power weapon.

3/7 Master The Art Of Taking Down Enemies

The Halo games are known for their increased time to kill. This is due to the fact that each player has an energy shield that first needs to be completely depleted before they start to take actual damage. The same is certainly true in Halo Infinite so anyone approaching it with the mindset of using quick headshots would be better off taking another approach.

It sometimes takes an entire assault rifle magazine clip to take down a single enemy so you'll definitely want to make every shot count. Grenades can help out in situations where there are multiple enemies clustered into a fairly enclosed space. Likewise, you can resort to melee attacks to finish off enemies if they are close enough. The important thing is to know all the available options and when to use them.

2/7 Perform GTA-Style Vehicle Takeovers

Every now and then (especially on one of the larger maps), you might encounter an enemy that is just laying waste to everyone else whilst behind the wheel of a Ghost or Banshee. Your first instinct is to of course run away and find some cover. But rather than get pinned down and hope for the best, a true Spartan is not afraid to face such vehicles head-on.

Thanks to the limited maneuverability of most vehicles within the game, it is actually possible to evade them long enough to get close and perform a hijack. The Grappleshot comes in particularly handy for getting to ships that would be otherwise out of reach. This instantly puts you in control while sending the pilot falling to the ground, which is a good way of turning the tide of battle.

1/7 Talk To Your Teammates

Halo Infinite lets players talk with each other through the in-game voice chat. There are also non-verbal ways of communicating within the game: you can mark weapons and enemies you've spotted for everyone to keep track of on their radars for example. And you'll definitely want to communicate with other players when the need arises.

This is especially true in team-based modes like Capture the Flag, where you and your teammates need to tackle multiple objectives at once. In this scenario, two players might decide to defend their flag while the remaining two try to capture the enemy flag. So knowing and deciding what each player is currently assigned to helps bring an element of strategy to matches that could make your team quite formidable when executed correctly.
