With Halo making a comeback through Halo Infinite, dedicated fans of the franchise are once more entering this world in hopes of reliving what made the original games so charming. And naturally, with a new Halo title comes the learning curve of adjusting to a new gameplay system.

In Halo Infinite, the equipment that'll provide you with the edge necessary to win the match is fairly plentiful — there are plenty of items that'll improve your movement speed and defenses. You can only carry one piece of equipment at a time, so deciding which ones are worth looking out for is of considerable importance.

7/7 Drop Wall

The Drop Wall is essentially deployable cover that your character can still shoot through (so the worry of being entirely on the defense isn't a problem!), but it's also a fragile shield that won't do much in the way of protecting you. If you're fast with your attacks and timing your shots just right, the Drop Wall will still be of some use, but it's the equipment you should be using the least.

After ten seconds of pressing the prompt to set your Drop Wall down, the shield will diminish. If an enemy unexpectedly approaches and you have one of these on hand, it can be beneficial to use. You should have just enough time to take them out if you're fast.

6/7 Thruster

Thruster is a tool that allows you to move a short distance rapidly, much akin to a dash. You can use this a couple of times before the item runs out, so it's great for the moments when you need to make a quick exit out of the enemy firing line or need an extra boost for your character's speed.

Thruster is also helpful for getting in close with your opponents and taking advantage of those melee attacks. Reaction times are tricky to keep control of when the person opposite you is speeding towards you like they've suddenly gained Sonic's speedy abilities.

5/7 Repulsor

The Repulsor is a handy little thing that knocks back enemies when used. You can get creative with how you use this as it's not only a tool that works on enemies; that's just its overall intended use. It's good to keep in mind the idea of trying the Repulsor out with other things around you, like incoming explosive ordnance, vehicles, and anything else that is getting just a little too close for comfort. You can even use it against the ground beneath your feet for a boosted jump.

It's advantageous when utilized correctly, with its usage extending to more than just damaging your opponents.

4/7 Grapple Shot

The Grappleshot plays out as an all-rounder and will be something that will invest fans of Bioshock: Infinite's combat. Using the structures around the maps to swing over to better vantage points or to quickly escape from nearby enemies is just one use of the Grappleshot; another is hooking the grapple into enemies to get closer to them.

There are many ways to make use of the grapple since so much of the environment is interactable. It's a great way to perform some slick combos with weapons and a mix of close and ranged attacks.

3/7 Overshield

The Overshield is precisely as it sounds, it's an overcharged shield that takes a while to run out, so there's no doubt it's an excellent tool to be using whenever you're offered the chance. Bear in mind that you'll become a high-priority target with the Overshield equipped since taking out your shield will be their main priority.

It provides you with an extra defensive boost and makes you a lot harder to kill. But a few solid shots will deplete it faster than you might expect, so don't become too risky with this tool activated.

2/7 Threat Sensor

Sometimes it's difficult to keep track of enemies converging on your position, with planning out a safe route proving even trickier. That's where the Threat Sensor comes in — it keeps enemies tagged and visible for around six seconds. This sensor doesn't highlight absolutely everyone on the map, just the general vicinity around where it lands.

Because of this, the sensor can be used in both defense and offense. Use it to your advantage the way you see fit at that moment. Whether you're setting up an ambush or trying to see if that's a good corner to duck around while you're fleeing with the enemy flag, this thing comes in handy.

1/7 Active Camo

Active Camo is a sure-fire way to keep your location safe in the shadows. With this equipped, you don't show up on the Threat Sensor. And as long as you don't sprint or attack, you'll be nearly impossible to spot. There are tiny ripple-like blurs that will give you away even with the Active Camo, but otherwise, you're pretty much safe from prying eyes.

The camo lasts 30 seconds and will fade back in after sprinting or attacking so you can hide again. It's so powerful that it's almost overpowered, but it's a tool that will assist in a ton of situations. Save it for the right one.
