This remake also comes with a new set of challenges to face and trophies to earn. While some are unlocked just by playing the story, others will require you to search for hidden collectibles and items. If you want to earn the Platinum for The Last of Us Part 1, these trophies will certainly give you the hardest time.

This article contains mild spoilers for The Last of Us Part 1. It is recommended that you complete at least one playthrough of the game before reading further.

8/8 Nobody's Perfect - Played The Jak X Game In Left Behind

The Last of Us Part 1 includes the excellent Left Behind DLC, which has also been remade from the ground up to utilize the power of the PlayStation 5. It's both a prequel and an extension of Ellie's story as it shows her weeks before meeting Joel, as well as what she goes through when left alone at the end of Fall during the main game.

While exploring the mall with Riley, you'll stumble upon an old arcade full of broken machines and games. After you walk in, explore the left corner to discover a Jak X machine that Ellie pretends to drive for a bit to unlock the Nobody's Perfect trophy.

7/8 Something To Fight For - Find All Training Manuals

One of the biggest struggles of living in a post-apocalyptic world is the inability to manufacture new weapons and ammunition. Instead, you'll need to rely on crafting items like nail bombs and Molotov cocktails to take down enemies so you can conserve your bullets for when you really need them.

Training Manuals might be the most important collectible in the game, as they significantly improve the effects and durability of these items. You'll want to keep an eye open for these handy manuals to help your chances of survival, and finding all twelve will also earn you the Something to Fight For trophy.

6/8 Master Of Unlocking - Break Into Every Locked Door Using Shivs

Joel and Ellie navigate their way through dilapidated versions of cities like Pittsburg and Colorado and will have some time to explore them between confrontations. They will find supplies for crafting, things to bond over, and occasionally, a locked door or two.

Shivs are most effectively used to take down Clickers without alerting surrounding enemies, but they are also used to unlock doors. It's a smart idea to always keep at least one shiv on you at all times in case you find one of these locked doors, which usually contain a slew of supplies and other collectibles as well.

5/8 Endure And Survive - Collect All Comics

It's not easy living in the brutal world of The Last of Us, and one of Ellie's favorite ways to distract herself from it is by reading comic books. She is incredibly fond of a series called Savage Starlight, and you'll need to keep an eye open for them, so she can have the complete set and see the whole story.

Most of them can be found inside apartment buildings or vehicles like buses, but they can also be found lying around outside in the grass. There are fourteen in total, and they can be incredibly difficult to spot at times. Don't worry if you don't find them all during your first playthrough, as the chapter select option makes it much easier to hop back and search again after the credits roll.

4/8 Look For The Light - Find All Firefly Pendants

One of Joel and Ellie's main goals in The Last of Us is to locate a group known as the Fireflies, a revolutionary organization determined to find the cure for the infection that turns people into monsters. Unfortunately, the Fireflies have disbanded and are much harder to track down these days.

Each member of the group receives a pendant with the Firefly logo and their name engraved onto the other side. These tiny collectibles are scattered everywhere and might be one of the most difficult to spot in a dark building. You can also find them hanging high above the ground and need to shoot them down to pick them up. Thirty Firefly Pendants are hiding throughout the game, and finding each one will earn you the Look for the Light trophy.

3/8 That's All I Got - Survive All Of Ellie's Jokes

As Joel, you'll need to endure a ton of hardship to complete your journey. From encounters with the infected to being ambushed by a group of bandits, it's hard to imagine how it could get much worse for him. That is until Ellie stumbles upon an old joke book and makes Joel listen to every pun in it while they search for supplies.

It's great to have some levity between tense action sequences, and the jokes aren't half bad either. Joel is much less patient with them initially but begins telling Ellie his own jokes as the two bond during their adventure. After exploring a new area, you might want to linger for a few minutes to see if Ellie has any new jokes to tell before moving on, so you don't miss this trophy.

2/8 Chronicles - Find All Notes And Artifacts

The remnants of society are scattered throughout the world of The Last of Us in the form of old drawings, notes, and objects. Each piece you find tells a different story from either a survivor or casualty of the infection and helps create a rich world full of smaller stories and characters to empathize with.

The notes and artifacts you find might be the most fascinating collectibles in the game as you learn more about those who weren't able to survive and what they had to go through. These snippets of information are scattered everywhere and there are a ton to look for. It's usually best to find as much as you can on your initial playthrough, then use chapter select to hop around and pick up anything you might have missed.

1/8 Getting To Know You - Engage In All Optional Conversations

When you're not reading notes from those who have perished, you can always socialize and converse with other characters when prompted. A sound cue and dialogue box over the other character's head is usually the indicator that you can talk with someone, though some optional conversations can be incredibly easy to miss, making the Getting To Know You trophy one of the hardest to get in the game.

On your journey across America, you will meet both old and new allies that you can get to know better by having a few side conversations. You might even have the chance to talk to unnamed NPCs to get more information about your location. Joel might not be the most talkative protagonist, but engaging in every optional conversation will allow him to open up a bit more and let you learn more about what he's truly feeling at any given time.
