The Sly Cooper series, starring one of Sony’s most iconic video game protagonists, remains one of the most unique stealth platformers out there. Each of the games, which include Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, all hold up today.

Since there’s no news of a new Sly Cooper game on the horizon, you may be looking for a similar game to fill the void. While it’s hard to find another stealth game that can live up to Sly Cooper’s legacy, there are quite a few options out there.

8/8 Ghost Of A Tale

If it’s another stealth game you’re looking for, you’re in luck. Ghost of a Tale is a stealth-focused RPG following the quest of the minstrel mouse Tilo. Like Sly Cooper, the game takes place in a world of animals, only Ghost of a Tale is set in a medieval world.

Its emphasis on stealth over fighting makes Ghost of a Tale stand out among other action RPGs. You’ll be able to use unique disguises as you sneak around, searching for clues to solve the mysteries you’re tangled up in.

7/8 Stray

Few animals are as stealthy as cats. While Stray isn’t quite a stealth game and you play as a real cat rather than an anthropomorphic one, if you like Sly Cooper, you might enjoy this intriguing and enjoyable indie game. Stray has plenty of mystery to keep you engaged.

You play as a cat wandering through a desolate futuristic city, and get to experience all the fun of acting and behaving like a cat even in the midst of an unsettling city. It’s a unique gameplay experience you’ll quickly get immersed in!

6/8 Ratchet And Clank

Ratchet and Clank, though primarily from a different developer than Sly Cooper, is another classic platforming series from Sony. The series centers on Ratchet and his robot buddy Clank as they take on impossible odds to save the universe time and time again.

Though much more action-packed than Sly Cooper, the Ratchet and Clank games are a fun and innovative series to play through. It is a shooting-based platformer, featuring exaggerated weapons and wild gadgets to assist you in your journey.

5/8 Hollow Knight

Sly Cooper is well known for its platforming gameplay and artistic flare. Similarly, Hollow Knight is an incredible platforming game with a distinct and gorgeous art style. If you’re up for a platforming challenge, look no further than Hollow Knight.

You’ll dive deep into underground caverns and face numerous enemies as you seek to uncover the mysteries beneath the surface. Don’t let the main character’s cute façade fool you either — Hollow Knight is handy with a sword and a bit of magic. Plus, the music is incredible.

4/8 Ori

The Ori series, like Hollow Knight, is a fresh take on platformers that fans of Sly Cooper will enjoy playing as well. Both Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps are incredible adventures you’ll love to play through.

Both games require a bit of strategy, with high-action moments as you take on impossible bosses and brain-twisting puzzles you’ll need to solve. Like Sly Cooper, the Ori games also have a distinct art style that suits the tone of the games very well.

3/8 Mini Ninjas

Mini Ninjas, like Sly Cooper, is a platformer that emphasizes stealth. While there’s more combat in the game than Sly Cooper, if you’re looking for a relatively similar gameplay style, Mini Ninjas is a good option to go with.

You can play as one of six different ninjas, who each have different weapons, strengths, and weaknesses. The goal is simple: bring peace back to Japan. Along the way, you’re able to explore the world and collect new items to help you on your journey.

2/8 Sonic Unleashed

While Sonic prioritizes speed over stealth, Sonic Unleashed still may hold appeal to players of Sly Cooper. Like Sly, Sonic is an anthropomorphic animal hero with a distinct personality, though admittedly Sly is more morally gray than Sonic is. And, just as the Sly Cooper games are unique in their genre, Sonic Unleashed is a fresh look at the famous Sega mascot.

Sonic Unleashed is a 3D platformer that alternates between gameplay styles depending on the time of day. During the day, you’re regular ol’ Sonic, speeding around the world you’re trying to save. At night, though, you transform into the Werehog and mostly focus on combat.

1/8 The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

One of the best Legend of Zelda games, Breath of the Wild is an incredible innovation for the series, bringing a choose-your-own-path story into a vast open world. If you haven’t played this game already, you should definitely give it a try.

For fans of Sly Cooper, Breath of the Wild is a good alternative option because there are stealth elements to it. Certain missions require sneaking around without being spotted by other characters or enemies, such as in the Yiga Hideout mission. There are also recipes and clothing that give you a stealth boost to help you sneak across Hyrule undetected.
