Destiny 2: Beyond Light introduced the Stasis damage type to the franchise. This manifestation of the Darkness slows and freezes targets in solid ice, providing unprecedented levels of crowd control. While Stasis weapons can't freeze or shatter targets on their own, Stasis-exclusive perks can.

Chill Clip and Headstone make Stasis weapons incredibly strong with certain builds. With the right Stasis build, a good Stasis weapon can be just as potent as your grenades and Super. This list will cover ten Stasis weapons that are perfect for all Stasis users in Destiny 2, ranging from Legendary Hand Cannons to Exotic Trace Rifles.

This list is tailored towards PvE content. Entries are in no particular order.

10/10 New Purpose

How to obtain: Duality dungeon (Final encounter).

New Purpose is meant to replace The Messenger, a Trials Pulse Rifle that was mostly known for its Desperado perk. Duality's unique Stasis 390 Pulse Rifle can also roll with Desperado, drastically increasing your fire rate while active.

Desperado might have gotten nerfed in Season of the Haunted, but this perk is still a blast to use in PvE. Stasis mains can also get some serious mileage out of Headstone, allowing you to spawn Stasis crystals upon landing precision kills. As far as Primaries go, New Purpose is a great pick.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Feeding Frenzy, Steady Hands
  • Column Two: Desperado, Headstone, Adaptive Munitions

9/10 Peacebond

How to obtain: Iron Banner matches and Engrams.

Sidearms are overlooked by most PvE players. They deal great damage, are easy to use, and come with some great perks. Peacebond is a great example of this, featuring perks such as Headstone and Subsistence. This three-round burst Sidearm can pump out some great damage if you use Font of Might or double down on Stasis shatters.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Subsistence
  • Column Two: Headstone, Swashbuckler

8/10 Deliverance

How to obtain: Vow of the Disciple raid (Acquisition and Exhibition encounters).

Deliverance is the first Stasis Fusion Rifle to grace the Destiny 2 sandbox, and it's arguably one of the best Fusions in the game. The weapon's Precision Frame makes it a breeze to hit targets from a distance, making it a great PvP Fusion. For PvE, you have some amazing perks to choose from.

Demolitionist rolls in the first column, allowing you to recharge your grenade with five kills. Pair this with Successful Warm-Up for a fast-firing Fusion, or use Chill Clip instead to constantly slow and freeze your enemies. Chill Clip synergizes with Stasis as well, spawning Stasis Shards if you're using the correct Aspects. If spamming abilities isn't your thing, you can get Corned and Successful Warm-Up to make this a Rapid-Fire Fusion. If you love Fusions at all, try to farm or outright craft a Deliverance.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Demolitionist
  • Column Two: Successful Warm-Up, Chill Clip

7/10 Thoughtless

How to obtain: PsiOps Battlegrounds and focused Umbral Engrams.

Thoughtless is a Stasis Sniper Rifle that packs a serious punch. This weapon can roll with Firing Line or Focused Fury to gain a sizable damage buff in DPS phases, but the real power of Thoughtless comes from Enhanced Overflow. While active, Thoughtless can achieve a magazine capacity of 16 rounds, giving it absurd sustained DPS numbers. Pair this Sniper Rifle with Font of Might for some jaw-dropping damage numbers.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Overflow
  • Column Two: Firing Line, Focused Fury

6/10 Eyasluna

How to obtain: Grasp of Avarice dungeon (Final encounter).

As with most Grasp of Avarice weapons, Eyasluna is a reprised version of a Destiny classic. It shares the same model and name as its original counterpart, but that's where the similarities end. Eyasluna is now a Stasis weapon that lends itself more towards PvE content.

Unrelenting and Headstone is the best roll for this gun in PvE, creating a Stasis crystal on precision kills which can shatter. Shattering this crystal will deal massive damage and heal you for every kill. It's not a bad weapon in PvP—featuring a great stat package and the ability to use Rangefinder—but falls short of Palindrome and Fatebringer. But if you're looking for a great PvE Stasis weapon, Eyasluna should be on your radar.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Unrelenting
  • Column Two: Headstone

5/10 Cryosthesia 77K

How to obtain: Purchased from the Exotic Kiosk in the Tower. Costs 1 Exotic Cipher, 125,000 Glimmer, 150 Spinmetal Leaves, and 1 Ascendant Shard.

Cryosthesia was so terrible at launch that it was forgotten about almost immediately. Fortunately, Bungie buffed this weapon considerably, turning its alt-fire into an AoE blast. Paired with the Exotic damage buff in The Witch Queen, Cryosthesia hits like a truck and can single-handedly clear a group of enemies with a single AoE shot. Freezing and shattering foes has never been easier.

4/10 Something New

How to obtain: Solstice of Heroes 2022 reward.

It's ironic that Something New's base model is the same as Better Devils from Destiny 2 vanilla, but at least it makes up for it with its perk pool. Wellspring and Demolitionist can roll on this 120 Stasis Hand Cannon, making it one of the best ability-generating guns in the game.

If you want better add-clearing potential with this gun, you can replace Demolitionist with Headstone. And yes, Headstone kills proc Wellspring, making this an amazing gun for all Stasis and ability-centric builds.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Wellspring
  • Column Two: Headstone, Demolitionist

3/10 Ager's Scepter

How to obtain: Purchased from the Exotic Kiosk in the Tower. Costs 1 Exotic Cipher, 125,000 Glimmer, 200 Helium Filaments, and 1 Ascendant Shard.

Ager's Scepter is the ultimate Special weapon for mobbing. This Exotic Trace Rifle fires a beam of Stasis energy that, on kill, releases a wave of slowing energy. Most PvE enemies freeze when impacted by this wave, allowing you to shatter everyone with ease.

The Exotic Catalyst truly makes Ager's Scepter a monster. Will Given Form gives this weapon an 80% damage buff, overflows the magazine, and causes your Stasis beam to inflict slow onto targets. In other words, this gun constantly shatters targets and deals substantially more damage. It does cost your Super energy, but this is more than worth it if you're playing a Stasis subclass. Throw on a few Stasis Fragments, and you have one of the strongest add-clearing Exotics in Destiny 2.

2/10 Reed's Regret

How to obtain: Trials of Osiris matches and Engrams.

Reed's Regret is one of the best Heavy weapons in Destiny 2. This Linear Fusion Rifle can roll with Triple Tap and Firing Line, allowing you to fire a barrage of high-damage shots before needing to reload. More importantly, newer versions of Reed's Regret come with the Veist Stinger Origin Trait.

When you damage someone, there's a small chance your Reed's Regret will automatically reload from reserves and have its charge time reduced for a few seconds. Needless to say, this perk lets Reed's Regret fire for an incredibly long time without reloading, making it one of the best DPS weapons in the game for all PvE endgame content. Pair this weapon with Supreme Wellmaker and Font of Might, and you have a Linear Fusion Rifle that outperforms Sleeper Simulant.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Triple Tap
  • Column Two: Firing Line, Vorpal Weapon

1/10 Riptide

How to obtain: Crucible matches and Engrams.

Riptide is the best Stasis Fusion Rifle in Destiny 2. This Rapid-Fire Fusion Rifle can dish out some absurd damage with Feeding Frenzy and Golden Tricorn, melting majors with ease. But the real value of Riptide comes from its sheer utility. Auto-Loading Holster and Chill Clip turns Riptide into a better Blinding Grenade Launcher, disabling targets and outright freezing them with a few bursts. From utility to damage, Riptide has it all.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Auto-Loading Holster, Feeding Frenzy, Steady Hands
  • Column Two: Chill Clip, Golden Tricorn, Successful Warm-Up
