Destiny 2 has received a new monarch. The Witch Queen’s arrival means a brand-new campaign, a new location, and a slew of sandbox changes alongside a bevy of new weapons--47, to be precise. Each with new Origin Traits and many sporting all-new, never before seen perks.

We’ll talk about all the new Legendary weapons, including the new Glaive archetype, the new Trials of Osiris Scout Rifle, and the two new Iron Banner weapons, even though neither of those will be available until later. But fret not since there’s plenty of new guns, swords, and Glaives to search for in Savathun’s Throne World.

Duty Bound

via Light.gg

Our first weapon is also the first Nightfall weapon, which means we have two Origin Traits to choose from. Those new Origin Traits add a fifth column to each weapon and can bring some pretty useful abilities.

For the Duty Bound, we’re starved for choice on some great new perks. Stats for All is basically like One For All but for your stats, while Compulsive Reloader will appear to a certain selection of players, yours truly included. Perpetual Motion is also available in the third column, while the fourth column has perennial favorites in Vorpal, Frenzy, and Rampage. There’s nothing this gun can’t do well, so keep an eye out for it on your next Nightfall.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Tactical Mag, Perpetual Motion, Frenzy

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, Zen Moment, Vorpal

Herod-C

via Light.gg

Halfdan-D returns! But this time we’re moving up the alphabet and it has a fantastic new Origin trait owing to its Hakke Foundry origins. The Halfdan was a favorite weapon for many Guardians, and I’m expecting the Herod-C to be just as popular.

Unfortunately, like other playlist weapons, the Herod-C comes with so many perks that it’s basically impossible to grind for anything specific. New perks include Steady Hands, Compulsive Reloader, and Stats For All in column three, while Column Four brings Focused Fury (which seems like a tall ask on a 33-round magazine), or Turnabout for gaining an overshield after breaking a combatant’s shield. You’re probably better off using some old favorites like Subsistence or Frenzy, however. Oh, and Headstone is in there too for you Stasis lovers.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Flared Magwell, Subsistence, Frenzy

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Ricochet Rounds, Dynamic Sway Reduction, Moving Target

Krait

via Light.gg

Our first Veist weapon introduces us to the Veist Stinger Origin Trait, which provides a small chance to improve movement speed and reload the magazine when hitting an enemy while aiming down the sights. Since Veist weapons fire a lot of bullets very quickly, odds are good you’ll proc this Origin Trait at least once per magazine.

But if not, you have Overload, Subsistence, and Autoloading Holster to help out in the third column, while Focused Fury, One For All, and Vorpal provides damage perks in the second column. Headstone is there for a Dragonfly-like explosion effect and for Stasis users.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Light Mag, Subsistence, One For All

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Ricochet Rounds, Steady Hands, Moving Target

Fel Taradiddle

via Light.gg

We have a winner for the best-named weapon in Destiny 2. We also have an interesting new Origin Trait in Psychohack, which will reduce the damage output if enemies after sustained damage from Fel Taradiddle.

We also have our first craftable weapon. Fel Taradiddle’s perk list includes Enhanced versions that offer even more powerful effects than their standard counterparts. You’ll definitely want Enhanced Archer’s Tempo or Successful Warm-Up to improve your draw speed, while Explosive Head and Adrenaline Junkie offer the most useful damage bonuses.

Best PvE Roll: Polymer String, Fiberglass Arrowshaft, Archer’s Tempo, Adrenaline Junkie

Best PvP Roll: Polymer String, Fiberglass Arrowshaft, Perpetual Motion, Explosive Head

Syncopation-53

via Light.gg

Pulse rifles got a 10% PvE buff in Witch Queen, and Suros Synergy is a great new Origin Trait for all Suros weapons like Syncopation-53. Combine that with a great list of perks to craft for, and Syncopation-53 should be high on your list of weapons to grab.

This gun has a perfect mix of PvP and PvE perks. On the PvP side, Moving Target, Hipfire Grip, and Zen Moment on one side with Rangefinder, Headseeker, and Vorpal on the other. For PvE, Outlaw, Compulsive Reloader, and Steady Hands can be paired with Frenzy, Headstone, or Vorpal again. Focused Fury seems an odd choice for a non-rapid fire weapon like Syncopation, but your results may vary.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Flared Magwell, Compulsive Reloader, Frenzy

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, High Caliber Rounds, Hipfire Grip, Headseeker

Perses-D

via Light.gg

Even with Hakke’s new Origin Trait, I’m still not sure if 150 RPM Scout Rifles will finally break into the meta. But if they do, Perses-D has a lot of going for it. Headstone will make it a great pairing for Stasis players, while Perpetual Motion and Rapid Hit are both fantastic perks regardless of whether you’re in PvP or PvE content. And with the seasonal artifact bringing back Anti-Barrier Scout Rifle, I can see this gun putting in work for Nightfalls.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Tactical Mag, Rapid Hit, Headstone

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, Perpetual Motion, Explosive Payload

Fortissimo-11

via Light.gg

This slug Shotgun is in a bit of a weird spot. You can’t craft it, so that giant list of perks is just going to make the grind impossible. On the other hand, it’s a slug Shotgun, and Opening Shot in the fourth column will let you compete with Chaperone and Duality after both received a nerf.

If you’re a PvE Shotgun user, there are a bunch of great perks to look out for in Fortissimo-11, but the odds of getting any of them are so low that you might as well not bother.

Best PvE Roll: Full Bore, Assault Mag, Surplus, Vorpal

Best PvP Roll: Full Bore, Accurized Rounds, Perpetual Motion, Opening Shot

Ragnhild-D

via Light.gg

Melee builders, here’s your One-Two Punch shottie. Combine this with Autoloading Holster for on-demand firepower and a big melee damage buff. It doesn’t get any better. Sure, you can grab Demolitionist, Frenzy, or Adrenaline Junkie if you don’t like talking with your fists, but who are we kidding? This gun is for getting up close and personal.

Even so, I still recommend Accurized Rounds and a range masterwork. Because there is such a thing as too close. Crucible mains should probably look elsewhere for their Shotgun needs.

Best PvE Roll: Rifled Barrel, Accurized Rounds, Autoloading Holster, One-Two Punch

Best PvP Roll: Rifled Barrel, Accurized Rounds, Perpetual Motion, Demolitionist

Empirical Evidence

via Light.gg

I miss my Breachlight more and more every day, but Empirical Evidence might finally make me stop mourning my dearly departed Sidearm. It’s got better range, better aim assist, better recoil, and better reload than Breachlight. The only problem is that it doesn’t come with Demolitionist. However, it does come with Perpetual Motion and Wellspring, which basically makes up for it. Harmony is also a great perk both inside and out of the Crucible, which is going to make my crafting choices difficult.

Best PvE Roll: Smallbore, Flared Magwell, Perpetual Motion, Wellspring

Best PvP Roll: Smallbore, High-Caliber Rounds, Encore, Harmony

Silicon Neuroma

via Light.gg

Aggressive Sniper? Low zoom? Snapshot Sights? Opening Shot? I’d like to introduce you to the next big thing in the Crucible. Just about the only downside here is that you’ll have to run Nightfalls to get your Silicon Neuroma, but that just means an Adept version is on the table once Grandmasters arrive.

PvE Guardians have a lot to love in the Neuroma, too. Triple Tap and Firing Line is a great combo for boss damage, and the new Focused Fury perk will be a great replacement for High Impact Reserves on other Snipers. Get this gun when you can.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Appended Mag, Triple Tap, Focused Fury

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, Snapshot Sights, Opening Shot

Forensic Nightmare

via Light.gg

The problem with Precision Frame Submachine Guns is that none of them will ever compare to Shayura’s Wrath. That said, Forensic Nightmare is our first Stasis Subbie, and it offers the new Psychohack Origin Trait, reducing enemy damage for a short time after taking sustained fire. Enhanced Perks from the new weapon crafting system will also boost Forensic Nightmare to where it might compete with the Trials Submachine Gun.

Best PvE Roll: Corkscrew Rifling, Ricochet Rounds, Perpetual Motion, Headstone

Best PvP Roll: Corkscrew Rifling, High-Caliber Rounds, Heating Up, Kill Clip

Come To Pass

via Light.gg

I honestly can’t explain why we need another Arc Auto Rifle, but we do as The Witch Queen commands. Come To Pass offers several interesting combinations for Guardians as well as the new Adaptive Munitions perk, which provides extra damage and effectiveness against non-matching enemy shields. Depending on how that works in Matchgain activities, it could be quite useful when paired with Genesis.

But for most activities, I’d stick to more tried and tested perks like Perpetual Motion and Shoot to Loot. Golden Tricorn is a great damage perk that you should definitely craft for, or look to Dragonfly for some AoE madness. PvPers should look to the new Turnabout perk for an edge in shootouts.

Best PvE Roll: Polygonal Rifling, Flared Magwell, Perpetual Motion, Golden Tricorn

Best PvP Roll: Smallbore, Flared Magwell, Shoot to Loot, Turnabout

Likely Suspect

via Light.gg

With Particle Deconstruction gone, Fusion Rifles are no longer the damage queens they used to be. Still, that doesn’t make them unusable, and Likely Suspect has a few new perks to greatly enhance its effectiveness.

Golden Tricorn is great and you should definitely consider it, but I direct you to the new Successful Warm-Up perk. This perk decreases charge time after each final blow, making it sort of like a slightly worse Merciless. On the PvP side, Turnabout will give you an overshield even if you don’t kill your opponent, and Firmly Planted will make sliding shots more accurate.

Best PvE Roll: Smallbore, Accelerated Coils, Perpetual Motion, Successful Warm-Up

Best PvP Roll: Smallbore, Projection Fuze, Firmly Planted, Turnabout

Snorri FR5

via Light.gg

Null Composure, beware! Snorri FR5 is coming for your crown. Reservoir Burst is always going to be the chase perk on any Fusion that has it, and when combined with the new Compulsive Reloader perk, you’ll always have a Burst-shot at the ready. Firmly Planted and High-Impact Reserves is the roll for PvP players.

Best PvE Roll: Smallbore, Accelerated Coils, Compulsive Reloader, Reservoir Burst

Best PvP Roll: Smallbore, Particle Repeater, Firmly Planted, High-Impact Reserves

The Enigma

via Light.gg

The Enigma is the perfect name for the new Glaive weapon archetype. It has “hafts” instead of barrels, the new Swap Mag magazine, and two new perks in Tilting At Windmills and Unstoppable Force, both of which offer buffs for using the Glaive’s shield.

We’re going to stick with what works for now and maybe circle back later on. Glaives are still more of a melee weapon than a ranged one, so Threat Detector will often stay procced. Frenzy and Rampage offer no-nonsense damage buffs that are easy to keep going. The Glaive’s shields will likely be more useful in PvP, so try crafting the Tilting At Windmills and Unstoppable Force perks there.

Best PvE Roll: Tempered Truss Rod, Light Mag, Threat Detector, Frenzy

Best PvP Roll: Auxiliary Reserves, Accurized Rounds, Tilting At Windmills, Unstoppable Force

Cantata-57

via Light.gg

Throw out your Waking Vigil. You don’t need it anymore. Cantata-57 has a slew of great Crucible-focused perks that will let you tailor this gun to your playstyle. Eye of the Storm, Rapid Hit, Timed Payload, Vorpal, Opening Shot, Moving Target, and Rangefinder are all here for the taking. For PvE, Focused Fury makes it debut on a Hand Cannon where it might find some use, while Compulsive Reloader will help you keep that magazine topped off.

Best PvE Roll: Corkscrew Rifling, Flared Magwell, Compulsive Reloader, Focused Fury

Best PvP Roll: Hammer-Forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Eye Of The Storm, Opening Shot

Crisis Inverted

via Light.gg

Wait, didn’t we JUST look at a 140 RPM Arc Hand Cannon? Well, the good news is that most of what you find in the Cantata-57 can also be found in Crisis Inverted. The bad news is that there’s so many perks that the likelihood of finding a particular roll is close to zero.

For PvP, Moving Target and Opening Shot make this a fantastic dueling weapon, while killing regular trash mobs can be made easy through any number of damage perks. This time I don’t actually recommend Compulsive Reloader since the Omolon Origin Trait does most of it already.

Best PvE Roll: Smallbore, Ricochet Rounds, Demolitionist, Adrenaline Junkie

Best PvP Roll: Smallbore, High-Caliber Rounds, Moving Target, Opening Shot

Frontier’s Cry

via Light.gg

You won’t get Frontier’s Cry until Iron Banner returns in the coming weeks. Unless you managed to keep some Iron Banner bounties from the last week of Season of the Lost, that is. If you did, you might be treated to the new Iron Banner Origin Trait, Skulking Wolf, which greatly enhances radar and removes you from enemy radar after killing an opponent during a Hunt.

Outside of Iron Banner, Frontier’s Cry loses out to other, less-specialized weapons. Still, decent stats and some PvP-focused perks make it a decent choice. PvE players might want to look elsewhere.

Best PvE Roll: Corkscrew Rifling, Tactical Mag, Rapid Hit, Kill Clip

Best PvP Roll: Hammer-Forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Rapid-Hit, Eye Of The Storm

Ogma PR6

via Light.gg

Light Pulse Rifles are back, although that 10% damage buff still might not be enough to make them a meta choice in PvE content. Still, I always liked ‘em, and Ogma PR6 has some great perk combos. Demolitionist and Adrenaline Junkie, One For All and Stats For All, or even just Perpetual Motion and Dragonfly for some good old-fashioned explosions on the go. And if you love spamming grenades, Demolitionist and Wellspring is there for you. You really can’t go wrong with this one.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Tactical Mag, Perpetual Motion, Dragonfly

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, Heating Up, Turnabout

Aisha’s Embrace

via Light.gg

Our only new Trials of Osiris weapon is a Rapid Fire Scout Rifle, which is a weird thing to say. It’s got great stats for its archetype, but it’s not exactly a popular Crucible choice, and it doesn’t have the greatest perk pool either.

But it does have enough. As a Rapid Fire frame, Aisha’s Embrace seems perfect for the new Focused Fury perk, although you will want to avoid Triple Tap in that case. Perpetual Motion or Compulsive Reloader would be better choices. Hilariously, you can combine Triple Tap and Fourth Time's The Charm to basically never have to reload if your aim is good. If all else fails, Multi-Kill Clip is there to be your fallback choice.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Ricochet Rounds, Compulsive Reloader, Focused Fury

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, High-Caliber Rounds, Perpetual Motion, Multi-Kill Clip

Pointed Inquiry

via Light.gg

From a fast Void Scout Rifle to a slow one, the Pointed Inquiry seems best-suited to Dragonfly explosions. It’s hard to say what I’d pair that with, but you can never go wrong with Shoot to Loot on a Scout Rifle. PvP is a somewhat more difficult choice between Firmly Planted and Shoot to Loot. Demolitionist and Harmony are both good choices in the fourth column.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Flared Magwell, Shoot To Loot, Dragonfly

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, High-Caliber Rounds, Firmly Planted, Harmony

Redback-5SI

via Light.gg

Oh, look! A Lightweight Frame Sidearm that has more than 30 range! Subsistence and Rampage seems the combo for PvE content, but PvPers will have a tough choice to make. Do you go for Tunnel Vision, Perpetual Motion, or Killing Wind in the first slot? And do you go for Opening Shot or Vorpal in the second? Tough decisions all around. Whatever you choose, I recommend keeping an eye out for this gun thanks to its incredibly high stats for a Lightweight Sidearm.

Best PvE Roll: Smallbore, Tactical Mag, Subsistence, Rampage

Best PvP Roll: Smallbore, Accurized Rounds, Killing Wind, Opening Shot

Father’s Sins

via Light.gg

This Rapid-Fire Sniper has just 35 zoom. Combined with the recent aim assist changes to Sniper Rifles, and Crucible players might want to give Father’s Sins a good hard look.

With decent handling already, Under Pressure and No Distractions make solid choices in the third column, while Opening Shot is there in the fourth. There’s also Snapshot Sights if you prefer, but that’s less appetizing on Rapid-Fire Snipers. For PvE, Triple Tap and Focused Fury will give solid DPS, but will be tough to pull off due to their anti-synergy.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Tactical Mag, Triple Tap, Focused Fury

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, Under Pressure, Opening Shot

Fugue-55

via Light.gg

Crucible Mains will lament the fact that both Snapshot and Moving Target appear in the fourth column, forcing you to choose. PvE players will be starved for choice for all these great damage perks. Vorpal, Firing Line, and Focused Fury can be paired with Auto-Loading Holster or Lead From Gold. I’m an Auto-Loading Holster fan, but you can take your pick.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Appended Mag, Auto-Loading Holster, Focused Fury

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, No distractions, Snapshot Sights

Funnelweb

via Light.gg

Another easy one. Subsistence and Frenzy is going to be your preferred PvE combo. Perpetual Motion is a fine substitute for Subsistence, and Adrenaline Junkie can swap in for Frenzy, but that’s it. Crucible players will appreciate the Pulse Monitor changes and Elemental Capacitor for additional stats.

Best PvE Roll: Smallbore, Tactical Mag, Subsistence, Frenzy

Best PvP Roll: Smallbore, Accurized Rounds, Pulse Monitor, Elemental Capacitor

Tarnation

via Light.gg

Bungie, why do you keep making Rapid-Fire Grenade Launchers? Nobody is going to use them even if you put Cain Reaction and One For All on one. Because the archetype itself has virtually no use in either PvP or PvE, it’s hard to pick perks that work because none of them do. So we’ll just grab the default choices and call it a day.

Best PvE Roll: Volatile Launch, Spike Grenades, Field Prep, Chain Reaction

Best PvP Roll: Volatile Launch, Proximity Grenades, Quickdraw, Danger Zone

Related: Destiny 2: Elemental Wells Explained In-Depth

Typhon GL5

via Light.gg

Here we have a real Grenade Launcher. Explosive Light brings back memories of Wendigo and pairing it with Impulse Amplifier just seems like a no-brainer. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, there’s Demolitionist and Adrenaline Junkie again, and One For All works surprisingly well if you get a large enough blast radius.

There’s less here for PvP players, but Wellspring at least provides a little ability energy.

Best PvE Roll: Volatile Launch, Spike Grenades, Impulse Amplifier, Explosive Light

Best PvP Roll: Volatile Launch, Proximity Grenades, Impulse Amplifier, Wellspring

Palmyra-B

via Light.gg

Hakke Breach Armaments makes Palmyra-B the new Legendary Rocket king if you ask me. Auto-Loading Holster competes with Ambitious Assassin and Impulse Amplifier in the third column, while Frenzy, Explosive Light, Chain Reaction, and Lasting Impression are duking it out in the far right. All of these are great combos, although Lasting Impression and Explosive Light have the best damage boosts of all of them. Keep in mind that Explosive Light will only work if you equip one of the new Orb of Power mods in your head armor.

Best PvE Roll: Volatile Launch, Impact Casing, Impulse Amplifier, Explosive Light

Best PvP Roll: Quick Launch, Black Powder, Impulse Amplifier, Chain Reaction

Red Herring

via Light.gg

Red Herring tosses out Explosive Light and Chain Reaction for Golden Tricorn and Frenzy. To get the same tracking as Palmyra-B, you’ll need to grab the Tracking Module perk in the third column, but that means no Field Prep or Ambitious Assassin. All in all, Red Herring is a Rocket Launcher about compromises. I don’t think it’s going to unseat my Royal Entry, though.

Best PvE Roll: Volatile Launch, Impact Casing, Tracking Module, Lasting Impression

Best PvP Roll: Quick Launch, Black Powder, Quickdraw, Snapshot Sights

Razor’s Edge

via Light.gg

Sadly, Razor’s Edge is not a lightsaber. It’s actually our second Iron Banner weapon. Relentless Strikes is there for ammo economy, but Whirlwind is nowhere to be seen. Your next best option is Frenzy, but you won’t find the same damage potential here as you would with Falling Guillotine. Still, Razor’s Edge is a fine Sword if you desperately need something long, thin, and shiny to live out your Jedi fantasies in a different franchise.

Best PvE Roll: Jagged Edge, Swordmaster’s Guard, Relentless Strikes, Frenzy

Best PvP Roll: Jagged Edge, Swordmaster’s Guard, Duelists’s Trance, Assassin’s Blade
