The Prophecy Dungeon has received a slight refresh for Destiny 2: Season of the Lost. The Trials of the Nine weapons have returned with an all-new set of perks for Guardians to grind for along with Prophecy’s usual set of Moonfang and Coda armors (not to mention a Pinnacle reward).

Fans of the original weapons will be happy to note that the models and sound effects are all the same even as the weapons themselves now have two random perks instead of a single fixed one. Tragically, the drop rate doesn’t seem to be high enough to make intensive farming a reasonable thing for most of us to do, but there’s still a chance for getting a god roll, and Prophecy is still a great dungeon to add to your Pinnacle ascent.

The Last Breath

We'll start with The Last Breath, an Adaptive Frame Auto Rifle with surprisingly good handling and better overall stats than most 600 RPM Autos. It's also got quite a few great perk combos worth considering--Subsistence/Frenzy is likely to be the top-tier PvE pick, but Last Breath is one of the few weapons to allow both Demolitionist and Adrenaline Junkie in the same roll.

For PvP, Dynamic Sway Reduction will provide better consistency, while Killing Wind can help chase down kills. The lack of Kill Clip limits this gun's potential in the Crucible, however.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Armor Piercing Rounds, Subsistence, Frenzy

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Ricochet Rounds, Killing Wind, Rangefinder

Judgment

Judgment won't displace your Dire Promise, but it is at least an easy-handling Kinetic Hand Cannon with great recoil and some interesting PvP options. Tunnel Vision, Moving Target, and Demolitionist are all good in the first column, but the new Encore can really boost Judgment's range so long as you're a good shot. Timed Payload will likely be your PvP pick, but there's also Multikill Clip, Opening Shot, and the new Adagio perk to fool around with.

For PvE, Demolitionist and Adrenaline Junkie turns this weapon into a grenade-focused Hand Cannon, which is both unique for the archetype and a lot of fun. I highly recommend it.

Best PvE Roll: Steadyhand HCS, Tactical Mag, Demolitionist, Adrenaline Junkie

Best PvP Roll: Steadyhand HCS, Accurized Rounds, Encore, Timed Payload

Darkest Before

Didn't get Gridskipper last season? Darkest Before is here as the Arc damage version with slightly better recoil at the price of slightly reduced aim assistance. But you can get Darkest Before with a Full Auto Trigger System, making it much easier to guide bullets onto your target as you're not constantly mashing the trigger.

Surplus, Subsistence, and Overflow are all great choices in the first column, while Rampage and Wellspring are good second perks if you can do without the Full Auto Trigger.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, High-Caliber Rounds, Surplus, Rampage

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Ricochet Rounds, Surplus, Full Auto Trigger System

A Sudden Death

If you're desperate to keep sliding and shotgunning, A Sudden Death might be the only Aggressive Frame Shotgun where that's still possible, thanks to Slideshot and Snapshot Sights as a possible perk combo. One-Two Punch is here for PvE duty, and Surplus is always great to make an unwieldy weapon a little easier to work with, but Aggressive Shotguns aren't useful for anything but the most dedicated of Shotgun apes.

Best PvE Roll: Rifled Barrel, Assault Mag, Surplus, One-Two Punch

Best PvP Roll: Rifled Barrel, Accurized Rounds, Slideshot, Snapshot Sights

A Swift Verdict

Precision Frame Sidearm users will likely prefer Lonesome for its greater range and Full Auto Trigger, but Swift Verdict can roll with some utility perks like Disruption Break and Wellspring. Killing Wind and Rangefinder/Kill Clip is also a deadly combo for Crucible players and one that might make waves now that there's some space for other weapons to work where Shotguns used to dominate.

Best PvE Roll: Quickdot ASA, Light Mag, Full Auto Trigger System, Wellspring

Best PvP Roll: Quickdot ASA, Ricochet Rounds, Killing Wind, Kill Clip

The Long Walk

Aggressive Frame Snipers return with The Long Walk, and it's probably the best of the return Trials of the Nine weapons. There are almost no bad rolls on this Sniper Rifle, with the only real complaint being that you can't roll both Snapshot and Quickdraw in the same roll. Well, that and its 50 zoom.

That aside, Overflow and Clown Cartridge combine with either Firing Line or Frenzy for boss damage, while Ensemble and Snapshot are likely to be preferred perks for certain Trials maps.

Best PvE Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Appended Mag, Overflow, Firing Line

Best PvP Roll: Arrowhead Brake, Appended Mag, Ensemble, Snapshot Sights
