When you start playing Disney Dreamlight Valley, only two areas are available to you. As you progress in the game, you get to learn more about The Forgetting that is affecting all the Disney characters in the valley, and you'll also unlock many new areas with their own quests and specifications.
Maui is one of the few characters you can unlock in the game as you go on a nostalgic journey with the character. He's a self-proclaimed demigod, and he loves bringing new things to his people. He will be the reason coconuts will arrive in Dreamlight Valley.
How To Unlock Burying The EEL Quest
Before you set on the journey to get coconuts in a very interesting manner, there are some things you'll need to do. Here's a list of everything required:
- Progress the main quest with Merlin until you unlock the Dream Castle after getting all the Royal Tools and 2,000 Dreamlight.
- Inside the castle, remove the thorns blocking the door in the bottom-middle. This will cost another 3,000 Dreamlight unless you chose this one when Merlin gave you a free unlock. Here, you can bring Moana and Maui to your valley.
- Once Maui is in the valley, upgrade his friendship to level two, and you'll have access to Burying the EEL quest. Talk to Maui with the pink quest icon on top of his head to start the quest.
How To Finish Burying the EEL Quest
When you talk to Maui, he'll tell you that you need to bury an Eel in the ground to get coconuts in the valley. As bizarre as this sounds, it is somehow true. Talk to Goofy afterward, and he'll tell you about the ingredients you need to create a Trap.
| Softwood | For the trap, you'll need a total of eight Softwood. You can find this lying all across the valley, it'll have a light-brown color to it. |

| Worms | This is an item exclusive to Burying the EEL quest. Once you're on the part to collect the ingredients, there will be a ton of shiny dig spots around the three ponds in Peaceful Meadows. In three of these, you'll get the required Worms for your trap. |
After you get the ingredients, make the trap and place it near the bridge on the dock. This will be on the eastern side of Dazzle Beach when you look at the map. Go back and talk to Maui for the next part.
He'll ask you to get the Eel near the trap you planted. When you go back, there will be a golden puddle in the water where you'll get the required fish after performing the fishing action. The next step is to plant this Eel anywhere on the Beach.
You can do this just like planting any other crop. Dig a spot anywhere on Dazzle Beach, get close to it to select the Eel as seed, and water it at the end. You will have to water the Eel twice to grow the Coconut Tree.
To finish the quest, give the coconut you harvest from the tree, and he'll tell you that coconuts will naturally spawn on the Beach now. This will add three to four Coconut Trees in the valley that can be harvested like any other fruit.
