Lost Ark is now officially out. Your leveling journey is about to begin. During the Closed Beta of the game, every player was able to access something called a Power Pass. This is a free item that lets you level up another character fully (all the way to level 50) without having to go through the main storyline, quests, and cutscenes. This item is back in the full release of the game - and the best thing is, you get two instead of one.
Leveling alts is super important in Lost Ark. When the game fully releases, it's sort of expected that you'll have at least two to three core characters with up to more than a dozen other throwaway characters - what the Korean server calls "banks", or a method of funneling resources to your main. This is, of course, totally optional. You can have fun in the game with just three leveled characters, one of which you have to level yourself, while the other two are available through the Power Pass.
Follow these instructions to redeem your Feiton Power Pass! You need to claim the Power Pass, activate it on that character, then use it in the character selection screen to boost your class up to 960 Item Level. Use it on the Lance Master! The Feiton Power Pass is available via your in-game mail.
The Power Pass Explained
Here is the official definition of the Power Pass included in the new Launch patch notes:
Power Pass / Adventurers Path
"There are two ways a Power Pass will be provided to Adventurers:
- When the player completes the Main Quest (Ealyn’s Gift) from North Vern, a single Vern Power Pass Token will be provided via in-game mail.
- After using the first Power Pass, a second Power Pass will be granted to players via in-game mail.
After two Power Passes are received, you will not be able to earn a third Power Pass this way.
- The Adventurers Path can be started immediately after consuming the Power Pass on an alternative character.
- This feature compresses the level 10 - 50 segment for an alternative character through a story told by Beatrice.
- It will guide you on the essentials and progression, specific to your class, allowing you to re-live the content quickly through the new character.
- Completing the Adventurers Path quest chain will equip your character with the gear appropriate for Vern content."
Essentially, this means that you can have access to THREE level 50 characters after completing the leveling process for just one character. This saves you a huge amount of time when it comes to grinding your extra classes. Rather than another two sweeping journeys through 10 or so hours to level your character to 50, you now get to play with three alts almost immediately - although you do still have to complete the story the first time around.
Why Are Alts Important In Lost Ark?
Alts are important, but not necessary. They allow you to complete extra runs of Chaos Dungeons, Guardian Raids, and more each day. You can then choose to funnel those resources into your main to help improve the item level progress grind. We go into more detail about how to level your item gear score here.
There are many types of alts you could choose to level - a fast, mobile character for completing trade skills, for example, or a support class used for a different style of play. Because it is quite hard to grind your gear, now is also a good time to decide whether your main is actually your main. Your alts will never catch up with your main because you might've used all the island resources (crafting mats) to level your main character, but stopping sooner and focusing on another class is better now rather than later.
If you use your Power Passes on classes you don't actually want, it's okay - you can always use the Knowledge Transfer mechanic at a later date to bring your class up to level 50, too. Here's our guide on how that works.
What Class Should You Level With The Power Pass?
Lost Ark is teeming with classes. There are 15 in total available in the full release of the game. You might have already picked a main, or you might still be debating what sort of class you want to go for. You don't need to redeem your Power Pass immediately, as it arrives as an item in the mail. You can save it until you've tried out other classes, read some guides, or watched some coverage of endgame builds online.
