Spotlight Hour Date And Time
The upcoming Spotlight Hour will take place on October 11 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. This is a relatively short window of time, so make sure that you are prepared and logging in punctually to take advantage of the bonuses being offered.
Spotlight Hour Pokemon
This week's Spotlight Hour will be showcasing Haunter, the Generation One Ghost/Poison Dual-type Pokemon. Being the second Pokemon in its specific evolution tree, Haunter has one additional evolution, Gengar, requiring 100 Gastly Candy to acquire it. Make sure that you are logging in to take advantage of Haunter's increased spawn rate to ensure that you obtain enough Candy to perform this evolution.
If you do not want to spend the Gastly Candy to evolve Haunter into Gengar, you can choose to trade it instead. Once done, it won't require any Gastly Candy to perform this evolution.
Spotlight Hour Bonuses
Each Spotlight Hour will be accompanied by a specific bonus throughout its duration. In the case of this Spotlight Hour, players will receive double Stardust for catching Pokemon. For this reason, make sure that you are taking advantage of this event to ensure that you are earning as much of this valuable resource as possible.
Spotlight Hour Spawn Rates And Shiny Rates
As the main bonus of a Spotlight Hour, you can expect a large increase in Haunter's spawn rate during this one-hour window. Primarily being the only Pokemon that you will encounter at this time, you can further increase this Pokemon's spawn rate through the use of Incense or PokeStop Lures.
Unfortunately, Haunter will not be appearing as its Shiny variation for this Spotlight Hour, so don't expect to encounter one during this event. Rather, it's best to use this event to focus on catching a Haunter with desirable stats and farming Gastly Candy.
How To Prepare For Spotlight Hours
Being such a short window of time, it's important to make sure that you are prepared for this event prior to its commencement. With the massive increase in the featured Pokemon's spawn rate, make sure you are stocked up on PokeBalls.
You will also want to ensure that you have sufficient Pokemon Storage before this event begins. This will allow you to rapidly catch the featured Pokemon without having to worry about Transferring others to make space. You can also increase your Pokemon Storage by 50 by purchasing a Pokemon Storage Upgrade at the in-game shop for 200 PokeCoins.
If possible, use the Star Piece item during this event. This will increase the Stardust that you earn by an additional 50%. This, paired with the event's 2x bonus, will give you the opportunity to obtain a significant amount of this resource.
