Genshin Impact has added fishing to the game and players can now wander around Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma in search of fish to trade for rewards. These trades are made at the Fishing Association in each region, which sounds incredibly grand but is in fact just an NPC chilling out on the coast.

In this quick guide we show you where each Fishing Association is located, the rewards they offer, and the fish you'll need to catch in order to make a trade.

Where To Find The Mondstadt Fishing Association

Each region's Fishing Association is run by an NPC near the capital city. In Mondstadt, that NPC is Nantuck.

To find Nantuck simply head out of the main gates of Mondstadt City and turn left. He can be found just along the coast on the city side of the bridge. Alternatively, use the Eastern city waypoint. From here you can head down the ramp to Hertha, Coordinator of the Knights of Favonius, the NPC who gives out Mondstadt reputation requests. Exit the city by the entrance Guy is guarding and turn right. Nantuck is on the beach just behind the tree in front of you.

What You Can Buy At The Mondstadt Fishing Association

The Mondstadt Fishing Association is where you learn to fish. Nantuck will give you your first fishing rod and the recipe for fruit paste bait. You'll also be able to buy an upgraded fishing rod, which offers a boost when catching fish in the Mondstadt region. Alongside this are three recipes for the other types of bait.

Windtangler - Fishing Rod

The Windtangler will shorten the amount of time you need to struggle with fish caught in Mondstadt. The bonus helps make catching in the area faster and more reliable. You can purchase the four-star fishing rod by exchanging giving Nantuck the following fish:

  • 20 x Medaka
  • 20 x Alien Medaka
  • 20 x Venomspine Fish
  • 20 x Tea-Colored Shirakodai

Redrot Bait, False Worm Bait, Fake Fly Bait - Bait Formulas

To catch fish you'll need some bait and these formulas will allow you to craft the other types of bait in the game. Each bait recipe requires two ingredients and yields ten bait and you'll need to craft them on an alchemy table. Each bait recipe requires:

  • 3 x Medaka

Where To Find The Liyue Fishing Association

Liyue's Fishing Association is located on the end of the pier at the South-East of Liyue Harbor.

It's led by Jiawei, who you can find by using the Southern-most waypoint in the city and making your way down past the Adventurer's Guild and Blacksmith and heading straight on. You'll want to go down the right-hand pier under the large archway.

What You Can Buy At The Liyue Fishing Association

Liyue's Fishing Association sells just two items. The first is Wishmaker, a fishing rod that will shorten catch time in Liyue and make fishing easier. The second is the Pool of Sapphire Grace. This is a blueprint that enables you to craft an ornamental pond for your Serenitea Pot.

Wishmaker - Fishing Rod

The Wishmaker is Liyue's regional fishing rod and will shorten catch time for difficult fish when it is used in the Liyue region. If you're struggling with some of the rarer fish this can be a worthwhile investment. It requires the following:

  • 20 x Medaka
  • 20 x Sweet-Flower Medaka
  • 20 x Betta
  • 20 x Brown Shirakodai

Pool Of Sapphire Grace - Ornamental Fish Pond Blueprint

Where To Find The Inazuma Fishing Association

Inazuma's Fishing Association is an NPC named Kujirai Momiji who is on the outskirts of the Inazuma City by the shore.

You'll need to go to the waypoint on Narukami Island between Inazuma City and Amakane Island, where the main island of Narukami narrows. Once there just head West and you'll see her just over the small hill in front of you.

What You Can Buy At The Inazuma Fishing Association

Kujirai Momiji sells three items in total. These comprise a fishing rod, a polearm, and refinement material for the polearm. Each requires a different number of specific fish.

Narukawa Ukai - Fishing Rod

As you've likely noticed by now, all regions have their own fishing rod that shortens catch time in that area and Inazuma is no exception. The Narukawa Ukai will help increase your chances of successfully catching any difficult fish across Inazuma. To purchase it you'll need:

  • 20 x Medaka
  • 20 x Glaze Medaka
  • 20 x Lunged Stickleback
  • 20 x Purple Shirakodai

"The Catch" - Polearm

This four-star polearm was made with Raiden Shogun in mind but can be useful for other polearm users as well. It's an easy-to-access weapon with the following statistics at Refinement Rank One.

  • Energy Recharge 10%
  • Base ATK 42
  • Shanty: Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 16% and Elemental Burst CRIT Rate by 6%

If you were lucky enough to pull Raiden Shogun, or have another polearm user in need then the weapon can be purchased from Kujirai Momiji for:

  • 6 x Raimei Angelfish
  • 20 x Golden Koi
  • 20 x Rusty Koi

Ako's Sake Vessel

Ako's Sake Vessel is the refinement material for "The Catch" and can also be purchased from Kujirai Momiji in order to refine your polearm up to rank five. Purchases are capped at four and you can acquire each one in exchange for the following:

  • 3 x Raimei Angelfish
  • 10 x Pufferfish
  • 10 x Bitter Pufferfish

Where To Find Ornamental Fish

Ornamental fish are rare versions of regular fish. When approaching a fishing spot if you see a blue pillar of light this means that there are ornamental fish in this location. They cannot be traded since they count as furnishing items.

You'll be able to spot the ornamental fish easily since they often jump out of the water, unlike regular fish. To catch them simply use the same bait you would usually. The only difference is that sometimes you'll need to reel them in for a little longer, so having the region-specific fishing rods can help with this.

How To Add Ornamental Fish To Your Pond

Once you've caught the fish and crafted the Pool of Sapphire Grace, you'll need to place the pond down in your Serenitea Pot. Next, simply walk up to the water and you will see a Raise Fish option appear. Click this and select the ornamental fish you want to add.

At this point, fish appear to be decorative only with no other use and will not breed.
