Jean Gunnhildr has been a fan favorite playable character in Genshin Impact since the beginning, and the fact that she's still widely used is a testament to her gameplay. Her combat abilities are fearsome, and the only thing giving Hilichurls respite is how busy Jean usually is managing Mondstadt.

As an Anemo character with the ability to Swirl other elements and also heal her party, Jean is incredibly versatile and has no problem fitting into a variety of team compositions. Even so, the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius excels when paired with a few specific individuals. This guide will cover Jean's best team compositions, to help you realize the full potential of Mondstadt's Dandelion Knight.

Roasted Dandelions, Anyone?

Often dubbed the "Sunfire" composition (which is a League of Legends reference, for anyone wondering), this team takes advantage of a unique aspect of Jean's Burst to heat things up on the battlefield. Jean's Burst—Dandelion Breeze—creates a circular field that imbues characters inside with Anemo. This effect can be used to cleanse elements and certain debuffs from your characters, but it can also be utilized offensively.

When combined with Bennett's Burst, which will apply Pyro to characters within it, Jean's Burst will continuously Swirl the Pyro aura off your characters and deal Pryo Swirl damage to nearby enemies. Since both Bennett's and Jean's Bursts want to constantly apply their own elements, this back-and-forth elemental struggle results in numerous Pyro Swirl activations with significant offensive power.

This combination of Bursts is quite forgiving in its execution, since Jean's and Bennett's Bursts occupy roughly the same space on the ground. Both Bursts rapidly heal your party members as well, meaning that this tactic is exceptionally safe. You can pair this duo will any other characters of your choosing, but consider deploying an Electro user and a Hydro user to trigger the maximum number of Elemental Reactions possible.

A Guiding Breeze

Thanks to the low cooldown on Jean's Elemental Skill, she makes an excellent battery for an Anemo DPS character. The role of Anemo DPS effectively belongs to Xiao alone at the moment, but new Anemo bruisers will surely turn up in the future as Genshin Impact's roster continues to expand.

Xiao isn't able to generate that much Energy on his own, so having Jean as a battery lets him activate his Elemental Burst much more often. Whenever you hit at least one enemy with Jean's Skill she will generate three elemental particles; simply switch to Xiao right after Jean's Skill connects and the elemental particles will be funneled into Xiao instead.

Jean's healing via her Normal Attacks and Burst also comes in handy, because Xiao loses health over the course of his own Burst. When your Conqueror of Demons is running low on HP, switch back to Jean to top up his health bar and pass him some elemental particles.

Two Geo characters, such as Albedo and Zhongli, are the best teammates for Jean and Xiao in this team composition. Xiao doesn't utilize Elemental Reactions well anyway, and he'll gain a lot of benefit from the shields and Geo Resonance bonuses.

The Protector Of Mondstadt

Jean is typically used as a healer, but that doesn't mean she can't output some serious damage of her own. After all, sometimes the best way to keep your party healthy is to kill the things hurting them.

Jean has surprisingly good scaling on her Normal Attacks, as well as a Charged Attack that will leave enemies seeing stars for a short time. The rest of her kit still offers adequate damage and healing even when Jean is built for Physical DMG, allowing her to function impressively well as a solo carry.

You'll want to tune her Artifacts and weapon for Physical DMG if you're attempting this team composition, and it's not a bad idea to give Jean teammates that can trigger Superconduct. This Elemental Reaction lowers enemies' Physical RES by 40 percent for 12 seconds, a substantial debuff that Jean can easily take advantage of.

Any Electro and Cryo character can theoretically be used here to trigger Superconduct, but Raiden Shogun, Lisa, Kaeya, and Rosaria are probably the easiest characters to make use of. The final slot in this team is pretty flexible, but consider a Normal Attack buffer like Yun Jin to round out the composition.

Even with this setup, don't expect Physical Jean to hit as hard as someone like Eula. What you lack in raw damage, though, you definitely make up for in terms of comfort. Jean is a true jack-of-all-trades, who can manage an entire battlefield by herself, and when given the proper support she can easily tackle any challenge outside the Spiral Abyss. Her offensive capabilities only get better with Constellations, too, so try out this composition if you've rolled a few Jeans over the years and want to play her in an unconventional way.
