Games in the style of anime frequently have a combination of flashy characters and epic storylines. One of the more recent ones which have quickly grown in popularity is Genshin Impact. You play as someone who finds themselves in a strange and magical world as you look for a person you lost.
This will take you on a huge journey spanning a world known as Teyvat, which is full of beauty and danger. It’s dangerous to go alone so take some allies with you, such as the talented Cryo Excorcist Chongyun. Just make sure he has the best equipment to help you out.
Updated on October 8, 2022, by William Quick: Genshin Impact continues to pull in players and remains fresh with countless updates and events. The most exciting of these will introduce new content, including missions, areas, enemies, characters, and of course, weapons.
As such, it's normal that the best weapon for your team members is likely to change. If you have Chongyun in your party, then consider one of the following weapons for whatever build you're aiming to give him.
12/12 Redhorn Stonethresher
Teyvat is full of legendary and magical weapons, many of which can be found via thorough exploration or defeating powerful foes. However, some of them will require luck to be on your side to obtain them from Weapon Event Wishes. The Redhorn Stonethresher is one of them, offering a lot of power and a very useful effect.
It's a 5-Star weapon that can only be obtained from a Weapon Event Wish, so start thinking lucky thoughts.
Base ATK (Lv. 1-90) | 2nd Stat Type And Base (Lv. 1-90) | Weapon Effect |
---|---|---|
44-542 | CRIT DMG (19.2-88.2%) | Gokadaiou Otogibanashi
|
11/12 Royal Greatsword
Royalty is an interesting concept that is able to endow authority and reverence to individuals as well as items. That being said, any weapon bearing such a label has a very high chance to be of quality make and desirable to have. That's why it's worth it to try and get the Royal Greatsword.
This is an effective 4-Star weapon that can be obtained from Paimon's Bargains for the right price.
Base ATK (Lv. 1-90) | 2nd Stat Type And Base (Lv. 1-90) | Weapon Effect |
---|---|---|
44-565 | ATK (6-27.6%) | Focus
|
10/12 Serpent Spine
As you can imagine in this fantasy world, there are a number of large creatures wandering around. Both mythical and more regular, these beasts can pose quite a threat to you and your party. Still, they can provide materials that can be part of powerful weapons. An example is the Serpent Spine, a claymore from the Liyue nation.
It’s a 4-Star weapon that’s part of the Gnostic Hymn series and can only be obtained through the Battle Pass of the same name. It’s a strong weapon that offers the following stats and abilities:
Base ATK (Lv. 1-90) | 2nd Stat Type And Base (Lv. 1-90) | Weapon Effect |
---|---|---|
42-510 | CRIT Rate (6-27.6%) | Wavesplitter
|
9/12 Sacrificial Greatsword
The idea of sacrifices is terrifying and for the longest time, they were part of many ancient traditions. Even in the fantastical world of Teyvat, sacrifices occurred throughout history and many have thankfully moved on from them. Still, relics from weapons from that age can still be found and the Sacrificial Greatsword is proof of that.
Said to have become petrified over a long period of time, this claymore is a 4-star weapon that is part of the Sacrificial series, and you can get it through Wishes. It comes with the following perks:
Base ATK (Lv. 1-90) | 2nd Stat Type And Base (Lv. 1-90) | Weapon Effect |
---|---|---|
44-565 | Energy Recharge (6.7-30.6%) | Composed
|
8/12 Prototype Archaic
In order to make something truly remarkable, it has to go through numerous iterations. Whether it’s a piece of art, a computer program, or even a weapon, you need to spend a lot of time working on it over and over again. As result, you’ll end up with a whole mess of prototypes that can be quite impressive on their own. The Prototype Archaic is a Liyue claymore that has a lot of power in its current state.
It’s part of the Prototype Series and has a 4-Star rating. If you decide to make it through forging, Chongyun will have access to the following statistics:
Base ATK (Lv. 1-90) | 2nd Stat Type And Base (Lv. 1-90) | Weapon Effect |
---|---|---|
44-565 | ATK (6-27.6%) | Crush
|
7/12 Rainslasher
Throughout gaming and fantasy in general, one of the strongest forces you can wield is those of the natural world. These elements have been a staple in RPGs for years and will be around for many years more. There are many magic attacks based on creating fire or wielding ice and sometimes this can be put into weapons. The Rainslasher is made to cut through water and foes with tremendous force.
This claymore is a member of the 4-Star Bane Series and requires Wishes to obtain. Once you do, Chongyun will gain these stats:
Base ATK (Lv. 1-90) | 2nd Stat Type And Base (Lv. 1-90) | Weapon Effect |
---|---|---|
42-510 | Elemental Mastery (36-165) | Bane Of Storm And Tide
|
6/12 Blackcliff Slasher
A name can have a lot of power and one that carries weight in Teyvat is the Blackcliff Forge. This place is known for pumping out quality and durable gear and weapons. Their trademark is a combination of a dark base with crimson accents. You can see this clearly in the Blackcliff Slasher, another Liyue claymore.
This dark and sharp blade is obviously part of the Blackcliff Series that you can get through Paimon’s Bargains. It has a 4-Star rating and has the following stats to boost Chongyun’s abilities:
Base ATK (Lv. 1-90) | 2nd Stat Type And Base (Lv. 1-90) | Weapon Effect |
---|---|---|
42-510 | CRIT DMG (12-55.1%) | Press The Advantage
|
5/12 Akuoumaru
One of the most reliable ways to obtain rare and powerful weaponry is to take it directly from powerful figures. You can either challenge them and attempt to take it through force or raid their last known location. A historical Teyvat figure known as Akuou the Wicked King was known for his power and strength. His weapon of choice was a claymore called the Akuoumaru.
This 4-Star weapon of the Watatsumi Series can only be received through Weapon Event Wishes. It’s a beautiful blade that Chongyun can wield and gain these effects:
Base ATK (Lv. 1-90) | 2nd Stat Type And Base (Lv. 1-90) | Weapon Effect |
---|---|---|
42-510 | ATK (9-41.3%) | Watatsumi Wavewalker
|
4/12 Favonius Greatsword
Teyvat is a world full of diverse cultures and kingdoms which all have their own traditions and factions. One of the most recognized is the Knights Of Favonius, which was assembled by the characters Vennessa and Barbatos to protect the City Of Freedom, Mondstadt. The knights were trained to wield claymores in combat which others would call Favonius Greatswords.
As part of the Favonius Series, you can gain this 4-Star blade through Wishes. Once you do, give it to Chongyun and he’ll gain stats to help him fight like a knight:
Base ATK (Lv. 1-90) | 2nd Stat Type And Base (Lv. 1-90) | Weapon Effect |
---|---|---|
41-454 | Energy Recharge (13.3-61.3%) | Windfall
|
3/12 Luxurious Sea Lord
Though many of the weapons in Genshin Impact look very nice and detailed, there are also a few that look kind of silly. Whether they were meant to be funny or make perfect sense within context, what matters is their quality and strength. This is the case with the Luxurious Sea-Lord, a sword that ends in a grinning fish head.
This odd but effective 4-Star weapon can only be received through the Moonlight Merriment Event. Though it can be eaten if needed, it makes better sense to give it to Chingyun so he can get the following stats:
Base ATK (Lv. 1-90) | 2nd Stat Type And Base (Lv. 1-90) | Weapon Effect |
---|---|---|
41-454 | ATK (12-55.1%) | Oceanic Victory
|
2/12 Wolf’s Gravestone
An animal that can always find a place in fantasy, science, or otherwise, is the wolf. It’s one of the most recognized predators and hunters in the wild that is more than enough to take down a clueless human. They exist in Teyvat and still carry the same aura which is why warriors revere them and will even name things after them. This can be seen in the legendary Wolf’s Gravestone.
This is a 5-Star claymore that requires you to go through Wishes if you hope to get your hands on it. Should you do so, Chingyun can put its stats to good use:
Base ATK (Lv. 1-90) | 2nd Stat Type And Base (Lv. 1-90) | Weapon Effect |
---|---|---|
46-608 | ATK (10.8-49.6%) | Wolfish Tracker
|
1/12 Skyward Pride
When it comes to anything in life, you’re always aiming to reach new heights. They say that the sky’s the limit but once you reach it, you’ll be surprised by what you find up there. It may be a whole new world filled with new creatures and treasures that you could never find below. Were you to encounter Dvalin up there, you may see him wielding the Skyward Pride.
Keep going through the Wishes for a chance to get this 5-Star claymore of the Mondtsadt series. Give Chongyun the power of the sky with all its perks:
Base ATK (Lv. 1-90) | 2nd Stat Type And Base (Lv. 1-90) | Weapon Effect |
---|---|---|
48-674 | Energy Recharge (8-36.8%) | Sky-ripping Dragon Spine
|
