Ganyu has remained a top DPS character in Genshin Impact, making her viable for any team during gameplay. Due to her strength and popularity, you might think she works well with anyone you choose to team her with, but that isn’t the case. As a Cryo-user, you’ll want to build one of two types of teams around her: a Permafreeze Team or a Melt Team.

Of course, it is possible to use a hybrid of these two team styles, but you’ll want to make sure you’ve got quality Cryo-users or Pyro-users paired with Ganyu to maximize her impact.

10/10 Ayaka

With this match-up, you can use Ganyu as Ayaka’s support to yield fantastic results. Ayaka deals out strong damage on her own- especially with the right sword in her hand- but with Ganyu’s Burst attack you’ll find they eliminate enemies in no time.

Many of Ayaka’s other strengths will come out depending on who else you add to the team, but setting up these two as the base of your squad is a promising start.

9/10 Zhongli

You’ll want to use this Geo-user on a Melt Team with Ganyu, not a Permafreeze Team, as he will highlight non-Cryo attack damage from fellow teammates. He’s also particularly handy to use as protection for Ganyu while she’s charging her aimed shots, and will provide Geo Resonance for the best possible passive damage boosts.

Zhongli is one of the most important characters to have in your ranks, mostly due to his incredibly strong shield, so you'll want to keep him leveled up as much as possible.

8/10 Albedo

Together with Ganyu, you’ll see tons of damage unleashed from the team with this sword-swinging Geo-user. Albedo can act as a shielder, which is useful when Ganyu needs to recharge. He’s also just versatile as a support DPS character in general, so he can complete any team you use him in.

Albedo will work well with anyone else you put with him and Ganyu - especially the likes of Hu Tao or Venti. He makes a solid choice to round out a Ganyu-focused team.

7/10 Hu Tao

Another strong DPS character in Genshin Impact, Hu Tao will act as a co-captain of sorts with Ganyu in the lead. While these two together may become redundant in terms of certain attacks, they are good to pair when you lack solid teammate options or need stronger attack team members to boost your stats.

Either way, you won’t regret having two extremely powerful DPS team members fighting alongside one another. Just make sure you also have a healer, Hu Tao works best when she's trying to deplete her health.

6/10 Sucrose

If you don’t have access to Venti or have a weaker Venti compared to your Sucrose, you’ll find her a decent - and adorable - replacement for a Ganyu team.

Sucrose's Swirl applicator is much more consistent than Venti’s, though you will be trading off for a less effective grouping function for herding enemies together for a single-blow attack. This isn’t an entirely negative situation, though, because you have two other team members that will be able to compensate for this in battle.

5/10 Venti

Venti is a stronger choice for a support teammate for Ganyu, and his ability to control and group the targets will be incredibly useful for enabling Ganyu to hit her mark on each attack.

You’ll appreciate this the most when you see how much less Ganyu gets attacked back, making your team successful in victory with little effort or damage incurred.

4/10 Kazuha

You’ll want Kazuha on a Melt Team with Ganyu because he’s an Anemo-user, meaning he can react with all other elements. If you have access to him, you can swap him out for Sucrose and Venti on a team because he has a mix of both of their elemental functions.

This will free up space on the team for other helpful characters, and give you one powerhouse team member that works well with everyone, not just Ganyu. Kazuha will also give you a high Elemental damage bonus, a clear positive for your team.

3/10 Bennett

One more solid pick for your Ganyu-based Melt Team, Bennett will consistently provide Pyro damage due to his low cool downs, and can even apply Pyro damage to your normal attacks at C6 level.

He’ll buff Ganyu’s attacks a lot more than many other characters, and he has a smaller cool down period, so he recovers quicker than most, too. Bennett tends to be an all-around fan favorite because of his usefulness and synergy with so many other playable characters.

2/10 Diona

Another good pick for a Permafreeze Team, Diona has a high Cryo stat, meaning she will extend Ganyu’s ability to freeze the enemy even longer than the other Cryo-users.

Diona is one of the most reliable Cryo-users in the game, so her assistance is more likely to work with increasing damage and maintaining progress. She’ll also double as your team’s healer, keeping you stable and strong in a fight.

1/10 Mona

If you want to build a really strong Permafreeze team with Ganyu, you’ll need Mona. Her Hydro skills will complement Ganyu’s Elemental Burst, creating a freeze on any attacking enemies.

Mona requires little to no recovery time, too, so she’ll help keep a constant freeze on targets for Ganyu, and the area her Hydro effects covers is wide-reaching, offering control of more opponents.
