Genshin Impact has been introducing several new Electro characters thanks to the recent introduction of the Inazuma region. This includes the Electro Archon herself, the Raiden Shogun. Her staple moves include pulling out an Electro sword from her body and annihilating enemies with a single slash.

This playable character can sometimes wipe out bosses with a single hit of her own, but she can also be a great support unit, especially if you are running Eula or want to cause massive amounts of chaos with someone like Klee. The guide below is here to help you build Raiden Shogun so that you can make the most out of the character's unique abilities.

Updated March 9, 2022, by Kyle Gorges: It's fitting that Raiden Shogun is the Archon of eternity because all signs indicate that she will be an impactful and relevant character in Genshin Impact forever. Her status as one of the game's most popular and powerful characters has not dwindled, so this guide has been updated to ensure Raiden Shogun's rule will stand the test of time.

Best Weapons For Raiden Shogun

Despite the presence of her iconic sword, Raiden Shogun's usual weapon of choice is a polearm. While she does unleash her Musou no Hitotachi when she uses her Burst, its damage is still partially determined according to the stats on her polearm, so it's important to equip her with a polearm that will properly boost her skills.

Weapon Name Base ATK Secondary Stat Passive Ability
Deathmatch 41 Crit Rate If there are at least 2 opponents nearby, Raiden Shogun's ATK is increased by 16% and her DEF is increased by 16%. If there are fewer than 2 opponents nearby, Raiden Shogun's ATK is increased by 24%.
The Catch 42 Energy Recharge Raiden Shogun's Elemental Burst DMG is increased by 16% and the Crit Rate of her Elemental Burst is increased by 6%.
Wavebreaker's Fin 45 ATK For every point of the entire party's combined Energy capacity, Raiden Shogun's Elemental Burst DMG is increased by 0.12%. A maximum of 40% increased Elemental Burst DMG can be achieved this way.
Engulfing Lightning 46 Energy Recharge Raiden Shogun's ATK is increased by 28% of her Energy Recharge over the base 100%. Raiden Shogun can gain a maximum bonus of 80% ATK this way, and she also gains 30% Energy Recharge for 12s after using her Elemental Burst.

Raiden Shogun has a solid assortment of weapons that work well on her, so depending on your team and what polearms you have available you should be able to find a decent option. Deathmatch is a great option that's available to any player who purchases the Gnostic Hymn Battle Pass and selects it as their four-star weapon of choice. Deathmatch's Crit Rate stat will help compensate for lackluster Artifact substats on Raiden Shogun, while its passive will make her even deadlier in 1v1 boss fights.

The Catch is an exceptional polearm and one that functions especially well with Raiden Shogun. The extra Energy Recharge it provides will not only help sustain Raiden Shogun's 90-cost Burst, but it will also directly increase her damage thanks to her kit's scalings. The polearm's passive will further increase the potency and reliability of her Burst, which is her main source of damage. The Catch and its Refinements can be acquired from the Inazuman Fishing Association (after you catch enough fish to cause an ecological disaster in Teyvat).

Wavebreaker's Fin is a polearm you would need to acquire by chance from the game's Wishing system, but it's another viable weapon for Raiden Shogun. Particularly when this polearm is at higher Refinement levels, its damage output can rival that of five-star polearms like Staff of Homa. An R5 Wavebreaker's Fin is not a weapon that most will have access to, but if you do, there is no better character to equip it on than Raiden Shogun.

Finally, we come to Engulfing Lightning, Raiden Shogun's signature weapon. Its stats and passive ability complement the Electro Archon just as well as its aesthetics do. Extremely high Base ATK, further ATK bonuses, and boosts to her Energy Recharge make this polearm a no-brainer for Raiden Shogun. It'll likely cost you since it's a five-star weapon, but the results definitely won't disappoint.

Best Artifacts For Raiden Shogun

Along with picking a proper weapon for Raiden Shogun, you will need to worry about equipping her with the proper five-star Artifact set. Luckily these can be earned by farming Domains at the cost of Resin.

Artifact Name Two-Piece Set Bonus Four-Piece Set Bonus
Emblem of Severed Fate Energy Recharge +20% Raiden Shogun's Elemental Burst DMG is increased by 25% of her Energy Recharge, up to a maximum of 75% bonus damage.
Tenacity of the Millelith HP +20% When Raiden Shogun's Elemental Skill hits an opponent, all party members' ATK is increased by 20% and their Shield Strength is increased by 30% for 3s. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s.

More so than most characters, Raiden Shogun's desired Artifact stats depend greatly on what weapon and teammates she is paired with. In general, you should try to equip her with ER/ATK % Sands, Electro DMG Bonus/ATK% Goblets, and Crit Rate/DMG Circlets. If Raiden Shogun's weapon provides ER, then you can probably afford to use an ATK% Sands instead. Likewise, if her weapon provides Crit Rate, then you might be able to get away with a Crit DMG Circlet. As for her Goblet, ATK% will serve you well most of the time but might suffer from diminishing returns if she gains a lot of ATK bonuses from teammates like Sara or Bennett. In this case, an Electro DMG Bonus Goblet may be the better play.

No matter what role you utilize Raiden Shogun in, you'll want to seek out offensive substats on her Artifacts. Crit Rate/DMG, ATK%, and Energy Recharge should be the priority. Remember that Energy Recharge is directly converted to damage for this character, so Energy Recharge that might be excessive on other characters is more useable on her.

Emblem of Severed Fate is by far the best Artifact set for Raiden Shogun. Everything about this set synergizes with her; the Energy Recharge bonus will help recharge her expensive Burst and passively increase its damage, while the four-piece effect will further strengthen her primary damage source. This Artifact set is excellent on many of Genshin Impact's supports, but it was designed with Raiden Shogun herself in mind. If you can acquire this set, be sure to use it on her.

Tenacity of the Millelith is a budget option for those who haven't acquired the proper Emblem of Severed Fate pieces yet. Raiden Shogun can maintain this set's buff indefinitely since her Skill has 100 percent uptime, and it will indeed boost the offensive potential of everyone on the team. That being said, she gets almost no value out of the HP bonus and the Shield Strength fortification, so it's not optimal for her.

Raiden Shogun's Constellations And Talents

Every character in Genshin Impact prioritizes their Talents differently based on their role. Since Raiden Shogun is considered a Burst Support, leveling up her Burst first is usually the right move. This is the primary means by which she does damage; plus, it's a really, really cool ability. Her Skill should be leveled up next since it's such a reliable method of passive damage for your team, as well as an excellent way to proc Elemental Reactions. Her Normal Attacks should be leveled up last.

None of Raiden Shogun's Constellations are bad per se—all of them will make the character more effective in one way or another. However, there is a clear winner among them, and one you should aim for if you want to flex Raiden Shogun's power. This would be her C2, which causes her Burst damage to ignore 60 percent of opponents' DEF. This is a massive damage upgrade that requires no adjustments to the way you play her, so definitely consider it if you have a few extra Primogems lying around.
